Well this is quite the waiting game isn’t it !
Had an odd one yesterday, four neighbours were without power but I was fine.
Ran extension leads across the road to one house. That was a great time for him to look into why his portable Genny wasn’t working. He took it somewhere to be looked at. Nothing like being prepared right.
Went next door to retrieve contents of another neighbours freezer as they’re down the Central Coast visiting family. Good timing.
Oh yeah they told me to grab their very small generator from under the house, told me where the remote roller door keys were hanging up.
Now, as an electrician I was somewhat surprised to find that the roller door didn’t work, hmmmmm must be something to do with the electricity being out. DOH !
We absolutely take water and electricity for granted. I mean I even went to switch the lights on in their house, lol.
Then I took about ten shots of expresso to another neighbours house so we could have expresso Martinis. Having no power meant that she couldn’t grind her coffee beans. This was at 10 am by the way.
Oh had my first beer very early. Unsure of the time but it was about 8 for a blokes birthday. I’m easily led…
The power came back on for the neighbours.
A big area slightly further away had no power for quite a while.
We are all checking on one another.
This is in Russell Island by the way.
We were told that there was no Energex crew here over the phone with them but thankfully there is.
Bless those people, and the volunteer groups like SES and rural Fire brigade.
Ok, stay safe.
Cyclone Martini’s? You should make up a new cocktail and call it the Cyclone Alfred!
Finally starting to get a bit of a breeze.
I’m getting cyclone fatigue. Not so much from stress or anything, just sick of hearing about it and having people say things like “stay safe!” as both greeting and farewell.
It’s like when you want someone to leave so you say goodbye repeatedly but they don’t take the hint and keep talking.
Alfred’s being a bit of a diva. I’ll be there when I’M ready. Everyone will have to wait.
Well anyway, stay safe( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Get a load of this guy
Haha. Keep dry and warm.
Literally came on the thread to say this, then read trk’s comment.
Stay safe ya grumpy bastards!
Thank you. But heyyyyyy I’m not Grumpy. Heck I’m not even a Dwarf.
You stay safe too.
So, my genius self, has a need for a CPAP as of last year, woke this morning realising I have no battery redundancy for the thing, so might be a no sleep kinda night tonight for me if we lose power!
Hearing the mournful wailing of curlews outside. I feel bad for our wildlife through this storm. I hope they make it through ok.
