Yea, if that kid would have gone to any form of military basic training MAGA would be gone now. Hell, they may have moved on and become a normal republican populist movement that hated businesses and banks (as the historic norm).
The Tea Party (2008-2009ish) was the first modern populist movement to get mass mind controlled by big money. People were losing their houses in the mortgage crisis, and people were duped into rallying against a mortgage relief program.
The entire relief program was proposed at 700 billion, with 46 billion for mortgage relief … but republicans got steered and focused at the mortgage relief portion and the Tea Party formed.
We’ll never know for sure, but some evidence against that is that nobody’s ever been able to quite emulate his cult of personality. The republicans who tried were just kinda dweebs and dorks trying to act like the popular kid at school, and those who didn’t were boring and uninteresting to Republican voters.
