In a normal population, 50% of the population are women.

In the US (and other places), 20% of the population are also children.

VOILA. Do anything to any country ever, and you can magically say 70% of this thing are women and children!!

I mean, it’s a genocide. But there being women and children doesn’t make it different. They’re killing everybody. Taking men out of the equation doesn’t make it worse unless you’re one of those types.

Yes. That shows indiscriminate use of force, which is a war crime. I believe establishing this is part of the requirements to legally recognizing it aa a genocide

You’re not using full logic on this, you’re just looking at numbers. Consider why this number is strange.

Men are traditionally more likely to be combatants. If your dead aren’t majority male, it’s evidence of indeterminate killing.

It’s evidence that Israel isn’t trying to target combatants (who are almost all men because that’s how Hamas does things) and is indiscriminately killing Gazans if such a thing was ever needed.

Those percentages don’t add the way you think they do. It’s more like 50% * (100% - 20%) + 20% * 100% = 60%. (“The female half of the 80% of the population that are adults, plus all of the 20% of the population that are children.”)

They don’t have to add up, it’s “news”. When have they ever properly used numbers like that? (Hint: It’s almost never; like when a woman “has sex with”, and a man “raped” an underage child – They use whatever invokes the most response, or least response, depending on how they want you to feel)
