I’m all fine with donating less to Gnome! I’ll start by donating $0.

Having heard about some of the difficulty in budgeting for a charity my friend works at that is also reliant on donations, this isn’t surprising.

She said things would be managed more effectively if there were predictable payments coming in, even if they were taking in less money in total.

It appears Gnome, and probably others, are the same.

Trouble is, I too am a “I like donating to things in lump sums so my bank account is less cluttered” kinda guy.

I don’t like the idea of recurring payments especially for something I’m not actively using because then I have to remember to shut it off at some point.

Maybe you decide $10/mo is such a small number (the price of two coffees in any country where I’ve lived over the past 15 years) that you’re happy to keep on donating at the end of one year?

What, like I’m going to remember a year in advance to look into this? I’m willing to donate a little to things on rare occasions but I don’t think I would do it this way because I don’t want an accumulation of little monthly payments I have stopped thinking about draining my finances.

Title kinda doesn’t make sense to me, they argue to donate monthly instead of a lump sump which I can understand, a lot of individual artist / podcasters etc prefer this as well, because it’s easier for them /Gnome to work / plan with a steady stream of income instead of random payments here and there.

Which I totally understand. But personally I’m not a fan of lots of small amounts cluttering up my (digital) bank statements every month, so I tend do just do “amount I’m comfortable to pay monthly x 12” once a year (sorry 😬).
