Absolute insanity. Polish politicians made abortions illegal. Then they arrested doctors for not performing them.

The politicians who made abortions illegal should be dragged from their homes along with the judges who arrested the doctors for following the law.

      1. Government changed recently, current one is pro-abortion. That’s probably why they sentenced them for not performing it.

      2. They could legally perform an abortion, to save the mother, both under current and previous governtemt.

        Government changed recently

The incident was from 2021. Nor is it mentioned that the law was changed. Even if the law is changed you cannot charge someone based on past actions when the law was different.

They could legally perform an abortion

The article says that a law was passed making it illegal to perform an abortion under the specific conditions that led to the death.

The doctors were not able to pre emptively perform an abortion because the law specifically said they couldn’t. The mother wasn’t in immediate danger. But the lack of abortion eventually lead to her death.

The politicians want it both ways. They want abortions illegal to get votes but they want abortions performed so they aren’t voted out when people die due to lack of healthcare.

Doctors should strike. They are hostages in a no win situation.

I’m not saying that the law has changed, but unfortunately the courts aren’t as independent from the government as they shoud be.
