    Seems like the TLDR is just they were working on it and didn’t want to spoil anything. That’s why they were radio silent. They also expected it to release way earlier but the game kept ballooning in scope.

    So this is apparently a sequel but I like the art style. Do I have to know anything about the first game to play this one?

      We don’t know yet if the first game’s story ties in heavily to this one, but I would recommend buying Hollow Knight anyway because it’s a fantastic game!
