I guess we can here. I’m wondering if they can fix all of the track limits issues on the last two corners with some judiciously placed techpro walls. That way it’s a hard limit the F1 drivers can see easily like in street circuits, and it’s removable for the moto GP. Because I think we can all agree it’s apparently far too tempting for them at the moment to try and gain time on those corners, and it made following the race a nightmare.

The downsides are that it’s difficult to avoid those areas and touching the barriers will often cause a red flag.

If we use gravel then even enough of that coming on the track could trigger a red flag. TechPro walls look like a better solution than gravel.

The main issue is the intransigence of the drivers. I say put grass there for the F1 race every year and then pave it over for the other series. The track owners can send the yearly bill to the GPDA.

I heard in the French commentary that gravel isn’t an option because the track is shared with moto GP and their regs call for a minimum of 5m of asphalt on those turns.

Was there a single driver who did not get a track limit warning on Sunday¿?

According to Ted’s Notebook, RUS was a very good boy and did not infringe the track limits at alll.

Considering just 1 in 20 drivers had 0 infringements, I gravitate toward the fact that the track limit issue is a car and track issue as much as it is a driver issue

I don’t agree. Drivers could take those corners slower and stay within the track limits. They are choosing to go faster and risking violating the track limits. That comes with consequences that they then don’t like. Tough shit.

Thanks mikeyd! Its awesome to be able to see more than 2 pinned/stickied threads at the top.

Is that Canada follow-up pinned thread still giving you a hard time?
