When I first started the app I could browse as guest in an instance. But after creating my first account, I’ve lost the option to browse an instance as guest. Some instances are closed to registration, but I’d still like to check them out (beehaw).
Logout (may have to remove account) and you will be able to login as guest again. Or join an instance not defederated from beehaw.org. Suggestions: lemmy.ee, vlemmy.net, reddthat.com, etc. Then you can access those communities and actually participate in them if you wish to do so.
I was looking for something easier. I guess it’s more of a feature request. Seems the capability doesn’t exist.
I noticed the same thing, and ended up adding a second shortcut to wefwef on my Home Screen, so now I’ve got one called Lemmy (logged in) and one called wefwef (for guest browsing). I’ve discovered that I have to update each independently, but apart from that it’s working so far.
That’s a nice workaround! I’ll give that a try. Ty!
