This is the third attempt they’ve made to work with that guy that actually got routed to me because their salespeople don’t do their due diligence. Shocking.
Edit; a little extra context: I have an email alias on a domain similar to one he might use, and regularly receive email addressed to him. Reddit marketing folks reached out in a less cookie cutter manner a couple times last year, this is more of a mailing list outreach attempt.
they don’t doom-scroll
Surely they can’t say this with a straight face
90% of users trust Reddit
I’m gonna stop you right there lolol
90% of Reddit are bots
Their coding says ‘trust=1’
Don’t know what else to tell you /s
Yeah, I haven’t trusted Reddit in 10 years lol. Redditors? Actually I suppose I also haven’t trusted them in 10 years lmao
I used to trust Redditors and explicitly used it to research products and services to purchase. But that was before all the bots took over. And now Reddit has taken away moderation controls so I can only assume those bots have gotten worse.
Pre, or post the API debacle?
That might be accurate. Everyone else already left Reddit. It’s just 90% of what’s left.
I trust reddit to fuck up. So far that trust has been well placed.
Whatever survey they used to get that number was probably about something like how if you google for information about a product or service you’ll get spam garbage, but sometimes if you add “reddit” to the search you will get non-garbage information (which is true). No way people would be answering that way if the question was clearly about trusting Reddit the company.
Saying redditors don’t doomscroll is hilarious
The amount of content there is insane. When I was on there I would spend hours scrolling. As much as others complain about the lack of content here on Lemmy, I kind of like it because I don’t spend nearly as much time on the phone every day
Wait a second. Reddit is reaching out to someone currently in jail because he is suspected to have run a human trafficking ring? And they want to work with THIS dude? Jfc…
Reddit is reaching out to someone currently in jail because he is suspected to have run a human trafficking ring?
“Human trafficking” sounds so much nicer than “rape and enslavement” which is what he’s specifically charged with.
Let’s split the diff and go with: human trafficking, rape, and enslavement.
Is that different than human trafficking? Wtf else do humans get trafficked for?
Forced labor is also common.
Largely construction and agriculture
My non legal opinion is trafficking involves moving people around, say from one town to another town or a country to another. While entrapment would be preventing them from leaving where they currently are.

Ostensibly. OP hasn’t provided evidence about their claims
This isn’t a personalized email and it’s laid out like a marketing email (600px wide, image header…)
so I doubt this is a 1:1 BDR trying to contact Tate.
OP put [email protected] into Reddit’s marketing newsletter and claims/thinks routine marketing emails is actual attempted communication by reddit
I love misinformation
I have an email alias similar to an address Tate might use, so my email is on a few marketing lists under his name. I’ve had two actual attempts from Reddit marketing employees to reach out, this is definitely just automated mailing list garbage.
He’s everything all the admins, most of the mods, and the only truly welcome users aspire to be.
In jail
House arrest, unfortunately.

House arrest in a purportedly US$700k warehouse complex he spent US$30m renovating
It didn’t buy him a single gram of taste, but that part is not exactly surprising.
I hear he also likes the pizza.
More stonks require more clicks, gotta get that engagement, gotta hold people’s attention, and nothing quite does that like controversial assholes. All profit-based social media inevitably ends up hooked on rage, imo, as it’s the best way to anchor a user’s attention and get more ads in front of them.
Why do you think they think that you’re the infamous sex trafficker Andrew Tate?
Cause our special big boy didn’t cry in the shower & has been allowed to use the illegal phone to check their emails! It’s a special day!
The email alias they sent this to is similar to one he might have, just a different domain. If they did their due diligence they would have seen that we’re two different Andrews, and that my email domain has nothing to do with him
Cool story. So … why do you think they think that you’re the infamous sex trafficker Andrew Tate?
My thoughts? They probably don’t, but they’re hitting the email address just in case. The mixup is somewhat common, I receive marketing newsletters and outreach a couple times a week to that alias that have the “to” name set to “Andrew Tate”- pretty good indicator of who they’re trying to contact
Hello,
Our site is almost dead thanks to our cancerous executive staff but we think we can really propel its death by encouraging cancerous members of humanity to join on and spread their garbage messaging.
Sincerely, Cancer
…
Joke aside, I’m not sure how we’re supposed to believe what you said without any reference to the moron in the post? I assume your email is something like his name, but there’s no way to confirm.
I’ve received a couple less cookie-cutter emails directly sent to this email alias with the name field set to “Andrew Tate” and references in the body to him. Unfortunately I tend to mark them as spam and move on, and they get deleted over time. Last outreach was mid last year from one of their sales guys.
Evidence missing
I happen to have an email alias on a domain similar to one that Andrew Tate might have an email account on, so I get emails that are intended for him pretty often.
No need to believe me, I’m just amused Reddit reached back out after being ghosted months ago- whatever list they use has bad data on it, shocking.
I’m not saying I don’t believe you. I’m saying that assuming Reddit thinks you are Andrew Tate because you have [email protected] is quite unlikely, as is the fact that they would knowingly reach out to him in particular.
The key detail that made their intent clear is that to “to” name on the earlier correspondence had his name on it.
The email alias ended up being an almost-typosquatted version of one he would have, so I’m guessing some marketing agency stuffed it on their list of potential email addresses for him.
My apologies if you’re unlucky enough to share the same name as that no talent ass clown.
He could just go by “Andy” instead of “Andrew”
No way. Why should OP change? He’s not the one who sucks.
🤣🤣🤣 thanks Michael Bolton
Says who??
Idk man, I was just continuing the chain of references.
ITT: People complaining about an automated email that gets send to a huge largely uncurated mailing list. This is so very obviously not an email someone at reddit personally addressed to Andrew Tate, let alone personally selected him to be added to the mailing list.
Seriously, people, there’s plenty to complain about without making up new stuff.
I’ve explained this in the description and various comments but I suppose I’ll repeat it here, but I have an email alias that is essentially almost a typosquat of one he likely does use, so some marketing company likely stuck it in their list on accident and fed it to loads of other companies.
This email is clearly automated but I did receive two more personalized outreach attempts last year, and I receive almost weekly personalized outreach from other companies due to the similarity in email. I know who they were intended for because they had a name set in the “to” field.
Can you share the older emails? I believe you, I’m just curious what they say if they’re personalized.
They’ve aged out, I typically mark as spam and they’re deleted after 30d or so. It was essentially “hey Tate, love the content! Have you considered partnering with Reddit ads to expand your viewerbase?” And the follow-up was the typical “you haven’t responded, hope I got the right email!” spiel
The most interesting ones I’ve seen are from the likes of SAP concur, recruitment agencies offering developers, and private jet companies like Fly Alliance offering million dollar discounts on multi-million dollar jet contracts.
Those all sounds like generic automated emails to me.
I mean, almost all outreach is automated until you get to a meeting. The point of the post is to show that Reddit is reaching out, either intentionally (possible, based on the previous outreach) or unintentionally, to somebody that many companies would rather not do business with.
Why not then post the personalized emails? This particular email just doesn’t look incriminating to me. Sure it is POSSIBLE that someone at Reddit specifically added him to the email list, but that’s hardly the most likely explanation.
Because I wanted to share something I found humorous because of the context preceding it, but don’t have copies of that context anymore because it was so long ago.
Looks like somebody is so desperate for any kind of celebrity engagement they are willing to work with a shithead like Andrew Tate, eh?
Also, for future celebs trying to promote projects on Lemmy: I got here first, Lemonworld is MY turf, Margot Robbie and her awesome movies are the only allowed commercial interest here.
Sales.
Yup.
I’m willing to bet they simply emailed every address they think might be associated with Andrew Tate, rather than they’re only emailing this one they think is Andrew Tate.
Almost certainly the case nowadays
What kind of corpo bullshit is this
Basically they’re saying that they’re going to browse posts regarding applicable products and “recommend” those and boosts with fake upvotes
Basically you’re going to have advertisements penetrate through legitimate discussions in the form of a “random real person.”
Going to?
👨🚀🌌🔫👨🚀
Always fucking has been right? 😕
I remember some post that featured a kitchen appliance, and underneath were people talking about, “Is that [brand] [product]? It’s so good!”
Then replies like, “Yes, I also have [brand]'s [other product], I love it!”
“Did you get [product] with [feature] and [other feature]?”
They were naming products and features, but I didn’t care enough to remember them. It was so blatant though, just ad-copy formatted like a conversation. You could see the massive gleaming fake smiles through the text.
I mean it’s just misleading advertisers. I think Redditors trust Redditors. That doesn’t mean they trust ads from literally anyone who pays them money to show them. They’re there to get testimonies from real people.

Redditors trusting Reddit? lmao
In specialised subs you can find genuinely good advice.
Do you trust reddit or the people that post there? I think that’s a big distinction. This is Reddit misusing poll results.
