Avoid partners or love interests if you can, focus purely on non-pheremonal smell sense

There was a lady I worked with 20+ years ago and she occasionally would come to work and just smell incredible. To be clear we were just acquaintances and there was no attraction. I finally had to ask her because it was just such an amazing smell and it was a fragrance called “Happy.” I don’t know who made it or if it’s even still sold but good grief it was an intoxicating smell.

Not necessarily a person but most black people smell amazing to me. I think it’s a combination of laundry detergent, skin care products, and perfume/cologne. It’s not overdone like white/Mexican people. It’s just right.

I know shea butter skin care products are part of it, but outside of that, every time I ask they either laugh it off or accept my question as a compliment and say “awww stop, you’re too kind”. It almost feels like a form of “bless your heart” or “I ain’t seen shit”, but I never get a straight answer.

…that was more the intent of my last sentence.

I’m Asian from the US South. You learn real quick that pressing a black person for information isn’t always great for race relations. Where I grew up if you pressed MeMaw (our daycare teacher) for an answer, all you were getting back was extreme sarcasm or anger. I grew up knowing when not to “press it”. Go too far and MeMaw would slap the shit out of you and you knew you deserved it. With my friends, there’s just some aspects of black culture that aren’t for us, and that’s ok.

You didnt ask for a brand name? Thats the least inoffensive thing you can di assumjng asking to smell like them isnt perceived as an insult per se

              Just ask

What is your fragrance or what product do you use recommend?

Even if its different from their own secret brand, Be and look sincere in asking. I doubt they’ll be too offended by asking their advice

Everyone fancies themself a curator of taste or that which is desirable
