Hi. I wanted to fully sync a document folder on my android tablet, so I can edit some documents on it on the go, just like I do on the desktop, but I dont really understand how to do it with the android app.
Like, I remember google drive had an option to make a folder available offline and give me the option to navigate said documents.
I dont like editing documents directly from the nextcloud app because in my experience is slow, so I just like using Text editing apps and sometimes I dont have internet, so would be good to sync them after I get a WiFi connection again.
Please help. Thanks.
While this is a nextcloud sub, I hope I dont need to give a nextcloud solution.
I personally use for everything Syncthing and especially on Android for Picture sync and sometimes Documents/Notes.
I use a Raspberry PI with a large HDD that is always connected to the internet and available. With this I can easily sync PCs that are not Powered on at the same time.
I agree. I don’t think nextcloud supports “keeping a folder in sync” on phone.
Can i ask how u set up Syncthing with Android? Didn’t even realize that was possible
Either download the app on F-Droid or Play Store (or go to the official Syncthing website)
The app has an interface but additionally a button that shows the original web-interface. So its pretty much the same as the desktop client.
For Camera picture sync I recommend you to set up exactly 1 external Device (server) with the folder sync to the camera folder. Then you set on the Server in advanced options for the folder that it should “ignoreDelete”. This has negative effects if you sync it with one additional client, there is a wiki page of this. I also recommend you to set on the phone “Send Only” and on the server “Recieve Only” Now you are able to delete older Pictures and Videos without wiping them on your Syncthing PC. Be sure that it really synced before deleting on your phone.
If you want a third Server you can create a new seperate folder sync for the exact same folder without “ignoreDelete”. Do not include your Phone to it.
Thanks for the in depth response I’ll read into this stuff
