Maybe I’m giving the Fox News guy too much credit, but the reporting I have heard across multiple sources is that the reduction in teen birth rates (generally a good thing) is the largest contributor to the drop in overall fertility rates (generally a concerning thing).

Unless he came out and specifically said that the reduced teen pregnancy rate is a bad thing in and of itself, the headline feels a little rage-baitey. It is Fox News, so thats entirely possible, but the quotes in the Independent article don’t really support it.

He didn’t say that teens need to step it up. He said that people are waiting longer to have kids, and at that point they are then having fewer children than are necessary to sustain the population, because of how long they waited. He then also said, interestingly for Fox News, that obesity rates, low-quality diets, and overconsumption of processed foods, and, I think, forever chemicals and microplastics, are all contributing to lower rates of successful pregnancy among people who are breeding at older ages.

Or, we brought our kids up to be smart with rational decision making skills.
