I’m looking for an external monitor for both programming and gaming. Currently, I’m using a 1080p monitor, but I’m tired of turning my head between the macbook and the monitor when I have to deal with 3+ windows.

So, I think a 2K monitor would be a nice improvement for my QoL, wouldn’t hurt my GPU too much compared to a 4k monitor. Any suggestion or should I scrub the idea?

Benq has some killer IPS 2k monitors with high refresh rate.

I think you should totally go with IPS 2k

I have a Xiaomi 34” ultrawide that I would highly recommend. I personally prefer it to the 2 monitor setup I used to have.

Do you have any trouble screen sharing from the ultra wide screen?

Do you have to reduce screen resolution for readability?

Yeh screen sharing is a pain honestly. What I do now is just share specific windows and then resize them to be half or 2/3 screen, that does the job. Definitely not ideal.

I keep the resolution at the full 3440x1440.

The 4K resolution is excellent for multitasking, allowing you to view code, documentation, and terminals simultaneously. It also features a USB-C hub, making it convenient to connect multiple devices, bandle and an ergonomic stand for comfort during long programming sessions.
