They started popping up for me; after looking into it, it appears that YouTube enhancer was conflicting with ulock origin. Disable Youtube enhancer’s ad blocking and ublock will work again.

In ublock origin settings, purge and update filters daily. Never watch YouTube videos while logged in to any Google account. Some people have reported you have to remove extensions because they’ve been finding a way to exploit certain extensions help detect adblockers somehow but I’m able to keep no script enabled no problem. Although you probably shouldn’t disclose what all extensions you use just to not give YouTube engineers free intel.

If you still can’t get in, download with the bleeding edge latest version yt-dlp. They want you to either disable your adblocker or pay for YouTube premium so the more people avoid any of those 2 options the more likely they are to eventually give up.

What I know is that all my friends (most of them using ublock origin) have been gradually complaining about YouTube blocking them and I was in the clear until yesterday. I guess they’re gradually rolling the blocks not for everyone at once.

Is there a list of geographical locations that have it enabled? I’ve tried a few different vpn locations and haven’t found it yet but if they’re using clever and calculated deception to divide people and make helping each other out difficult someone needs to analyze and document exactly how it’s being done.

This doesn’t seem geo related as most people I was speaking about share the same country and we’re all tech people so more or less similar setups an abilities do get around things… and we didn’t get all blocked at the same time.

Btw, just so you know, today after updating ublock and whatnot, I’m in a new situation, the youtube popup doesn’t appear anymore however the ads play with sound only / no video.

if they’re using clever and calculated deception to divide people and make helping each other out difficult someone needs to analyze and document exactly how it’s being done.

Sounds like Google doesn’t it? :P

What I see with this is that Google might eventually lose more with this new policies than just leaving things as they were. Lets be real, if this shit show continues I guess I’ll just move to an alternative frontend such as Piped or Invidious and they their ability to harvest data and forced ads will be considerably restricted.

He’s not crazy people. I have two user accounts on my same Windows machine on one user account brand new install a Firefox latest version of u block origin. All I see is the YouTube does not allow ads warning. On the same machine on separate windows user with the same version of Firefox and the same version of u block both of them signed into my YouTube account only my main windows user is blocked… The only extension enabled on the browser is u-block

Some people will see something like this and others won’t. They are rolling it out slowly so we get used to it.

I saw it exactly one time, and then I think my blockers got updated and I haven’t seen it since. That works for me!

Not gonna defend YouTube here, they should not have done this. HOWEVER I do care about creators on YouTube and so I actually purchased YouTube premium. It’s actually a pretty sweet deal when I consider how often I actually watch YouTube, and the fact that I actually can get a lot of use out of YouTube Music, personally. I’m not gonna say it’s a good deal for everybody, but if you actually watch any YouTube content creators regularly that you don’t contribute to via other means, it’s worth considering to avoid ads while making sure they can still get paid.

Alphabet (Google and Youtube’s parent company) reported $282,836,000,000 in revenue with a gross profit of $156,633,000,000 in the 2022 fiscal year. I’m pretty sure they can afford to pay their creators what’s owed without also resorting to being shit.

The creators get a share of the ad revenue from their videos. If you block ads, you’re directly causing them to lose income.

Which is kinda a dick move.

Your Youtube creators would be better helped by donating to their patreon or koffi, not greedy corporations.

If only paying for Premium would remove the paid promotions from the content creators.

I paid for Premium so my children won’t be brain washed by advertising, yet they still get subjected to product placement and dishonest promotion that often doesn’t even explain that it’s a promotion.

i have heard of some addons for youtube that allow for skipping sponsor segments and other stuff like begging to subscribe

i have see that on piped, which is a youtube frontend that removes any tracking and ads, kinda like invidious, but allows to skip sponsors and stuff. its pretty good! i only stopped using it because there are no servers in my country and videos took too long to load :D

Honestly, I’d just not watch that creator any more rather than go to those lengths.

the point is to watch without ads, not have the creator get no money
