Any body else livid that they haven’t gotten payday because TD screwed the pooch on direct deposits?
If this was the end of the month I might have become … intemperate.
Edit-spelling
You wouldn’t like me when I’m intemperate.
But no, I don’t bank through TD and today wasn’t payday for me. Sorry that happened to you. I’d recommend shitting in their office.
I’m feeling intemperate and all i was going to do was try starting my own lemmy instance, and buy some nice rum. Dude at work had his mortgage payment bounce.
I alrady have… stong feelings about banks generally, and this sure isn’t helping.
Dr. Banner what could ever be wrong?
Sir, I am somewhat miffed. I suggest you retire to the bunker.
I’ve heard that urine speaks louder than words.
But your solution is… nuclear. I dig it
TD’s systems are fast and generally solid (compare to Tangerine and their 30 minute Interac e-transfers), but this outage is a real kick in the nuts to many, and I sympathize.
I’m still salty that, 6 years after it was introduced to Canada, TD still refuses to adopt Google Pay. …Heck, I’m still salty for them buying out Canada Trust in 2000
I don’t even use google wallet so this feature didn’t bother me. What does bother me is that they charge a fee for baking. I just opened an account with RBC because I plan to only deposit my cheque in there and take out all the cash and then not rely on banks to make purchases. EFF that.
I hope it’s not a hack.
Nationalize chequing and savings accounts.
Yes, I support this idea, and the most convenient way is to do postal banking through Canada Post, in my opinion.
Yes, like I experienced in Europe. Having an oligopoly can’t be the best way to provide financial services.
What about lending? The key economic function of banks is transforming liquid customer deposits into longer duration loans.
That was the key economic function about a hundred years ago. Since 2006 or so, their key economic function seems to be transforming shit loans into AAA-rated investments and selling them to suckers, then getting bailed out by the government. That’s not an improvement. They can still offer loans, but they should either borrow that money from the government at the overnight rate (if deposit accounts are nationalized) or use their own capital. That way, they are more likely to be accountable for the quality of their business.
A bit concerning as TD Bank was flagged as falling or liable to fail along with the American banks that fell through.
I always say we won’t know when banks fail until after they’ve fallen. When they do, poor guys like us will lose and the rich will have their wealth protected at all costs … even if it means our savings
Yeah I’m kinda pissed that they are charging me so that I can not get my paycheck on time lol. A lot of places will give it to you a day early
