Ok so normally this has happened when the laptop has started heating up and the cursor just stops working a connected mouse never has any problems. Dricer updates not an issue

So, I looked this up on search engines and there are many support questions about a trackpad on a Dell not working when the laptop gets warm, or has suffered a shock. I’d suggest following the advice on those Dell support threads.
