Pro tip: I’d first look into the extensions your distro supplies via the package manager.
For example, on Debian there’s gnome-shell-extensions-extra, which includes V-Shell, an extension that lets you customize almost everything.By installing extensions through your package manager, they don’t break with a Gnome update.

This is the one. One of my favorite and necessary extensions for me
I found one in a stack exchange thread and copy and pasted that. I’ll see if I can find the thread when I get back on my PC
