I have a broken Samsung Note 9 which suffers from a green flickering screen making it incredibly difficult to gain access to it in order to turn USB debugging on and transfer my old photos/data off it.

I’ve found a solution using Samsung Dex and a usb-c to hdmi cable, however due to having a pattern unlock and a glitchy screen, it’s tricky to start up my phone with my pattern and now the auto factory reset option has enabled, leaving me with only 1 attempt to unlock my device before it factory resets.

I’ve managed to gain access to it/input my pattern multiple times when previously trying different options, however this time I haven’t been as lucky.

Is anyone aware if the attempts reset over time if I left my phone for awhile, or will it remember I only have one attempt left, even after letting it drain and sitting for a couple of months?

Thanks!

Is it possible to use a mouse? You can connect the USB port via dongle and use it.

Not sure you can draw a pattern with a mouse, but you can try it in another device before trying it in the phone.

I have owned a Samsung phone like a decade ago when the Ace series were released. So not sure the attempts will reset after a certain period.

I have a samsung A52 and I locked myself out misinputting my pin repeatedly while exhausted. It let me try again after ten minutes or so of lockout. If it helps, there is an fdroid app called “coffee” which will keep the screen on permanently until you manually turn it off.
