My suspension has Pedal Lock Out and Low SPD. When would I want to have pedal lock out and what’s the advantage of the Low Spd settings?
I just upgraded from an entry level hardtail to a used carbon fiber XC bike I picked up for a steal. All the components are much nicer than what I had before. My goal now is to get fast on flowy trails. I’m not a gear head and mostly just want to have fun while exercising.
Lock out when climbing, low speed when you need a little give i.e. climbing and it’s bumpy or more xc stuff. Suspension absorbs energy, this includes you pedaling. Locking it out or reducing it allows the effort you make while peddling be more effective. Some people lock it out when doing jumps too.

You should set the psi for your weight and check that once in a while as part of your normal maintenance. Flipping between the different modes is as you feel necessary. Generally this means flip to lock out when you expect sustained climbing, slow for mostly flat sections, and open when going down hill. This is how I personally use the lock out feature when I ride.
