This is the “post-mortem”: https://ba.antheas.dev/bazzite-postmortem.html

I installed it on my Lenovo Legion Go, as a recommendation from Google Gemini after the fallout from Bazzite. It has gone well overall, with only a handful of issues (controllers not detected, SD card mounted as an SSD, screen not always turning on, Bluetooth headset connecting at low quality, WiFi dropping signal) that were all solved with a few minutes of querying AI and running the recommended commands in Konsole. Without AI, though, I’d have been lost.

That’s a strange set of circumstances.
I’ve been accused of being AI (or a robot, or an alien) for decades. Let’s put it this way: this post prompted me to write this.
ALL the cool kids hate AI. You want to be cool, don’t you? Come on, everyone, let’s hate the latest marvel of technological innovation together!
It uses electricity, which nothing else does. It uses water, which is then destroyed forever and can never be used again after it’s been used once for AI. It’s occasionally wrong, which nothing else ever is. It makes billionaires richer, which nothing else ever does. It reduces your creativity, which everyone has in spades. It discourages you from thinking for yourself, unlike the mob mentality telling you to hate it.
Stop acknowledging the many positives and just accept instead that it’s only ever going to be horrible. Forever. Always in all ways. It’s time to turn off your brains and just hate AI with us. Woo! 🥳
People wear clothes in their home?
There are genuine reasons to hate everything. How many of them have their own community?
Because everyone else hates it, it’s the hip thing to do. Who doesn’t want to be hip? It’s groovy! Crescent fresh.
I don’t know why someone down voted you, but I also don’t know what you mean by my math. Which math would that be? I was using AI before LLMs ever even hit the scene.
What tools do you have experience with? Just the free ones? The crap from Microslop or OpenAI? I sincerely believe you’d change your opinion if you were using the professional products from companies that have created working models, but I imagine most people only have limited experience with those models, if any. Most use ChatGPT or Copilot and surmise it’s all inaccurate crap. They’d be right from that limited sample, but wrong about the market at large.
That’s why you still need one skilled developer per project as the middle man, for requirement elicitation. You don’t have to believe me, no skin off my nose, but I’m with an organization that’s making it work exactly as described. Months of work done in weeks instead.
It’s only low quality until it isn’t. Have you used Gemin 3.1 Proi lately? Anthropic’s Opus 4.6?
Everything looks like low-quality crap when you only use the free models from Microsoft and OpenAI. But I suspect you haven’t utilized the paid, professional models if you hold that opinion.
Sorry, missed this was in ShitPost. Please, allow me to revise: Dang clankers, Deytükurjerbs!
The future is in agentic AI with a single developer for code review. Management tells the developer what they want, developer engineers the prompt, gives it to the AI agent that has complete access to the relevant projects and DB schema. It generates a change log, and the developer reviews it, asking for changes as needed.
Huge teams are about to be consolidated, with a huge inflow of software engineers into the unemployment bin, and entire downstream economies are going to collapse from the resulting unemployment of previously high paying careers. We need Universal Basic Income yesterday.
You should avoid the FuckAI community - they hate hearing that this application of the technology is wholly viable. To them, it’s only capable of creating crap, and to suggest otherwise is to be buried in a mountain of down votes. I was actually surprised you had a positive reaction, until I realized this is the Technology community.
