That’s exactly what I said. The author’s proposed scenario included a “legal” framework that doesn’t exist. If they make a move around the elections, it will be violent, not some executive order that has no bearing on the states administration of the election.

Elections can not be delayed, nor can the federal government dictate to states how to administer elections (outside violations of the constitution, which are adjudicated by the courts, not executive orders). The constitution outlines the years in which elections for federal office are to take place, federal statute sets the date, and state laws cover the administration of the election. In order to do what is described in this article there would need to be a constitutional amendment(s) allowing changes to the set years for elections to the house and senate, for the house and senate to propose/pass a change of the statute signed off by the president, and then to either have the states all change their laws or have a case make it through courts and receive a judgement before the election that states not requiring voter I.D. costs the constitution. This is simply not possible within the time constraints, if at all. While the fascists certainly want a coup, this is not the route. Their move will be drastically more violent or continue on the slow, but escalating, course it is currently taking.

It’s hard to negotiate when one party isn’t coming to the table in good faith. The US and Israel aren’t interested in peace, so it’s unclear how these talks could possibly be successful. There was a nuclear agreement between the US and Iran a decade ago, which Iran faithfully followed. Then the US scrapped it, unprovoked.

Even if it passes, there’ll be no enforcement. This has played out countless times before. At best, the firms will face fines representing .001% of the money they made breaking it.

Sea level is irrelevant. This isn’t about water rise, but the land itself sinking (compressing). This can cause damage to infrastructure, buildings, and alter where areas lie in the water table (potentially increasing flooding).

As I’ve gotten older, videos that wouldn’t have elicited a reaction when I was a teen, I now find very unpleasant. I’m not sure why that is, but I do find it interesting.

One of the biggest ones I’ve seen are products labeled “gluten free” that shouldn’t have gluten. Someone told me thar let’s you know it’s not prepared/processed near gluten containing foods, but I find that a bit dubious.

Agreed, it definitely has always been there. I’m from a diverse family that covers all races, as well as many ethnicities and countries of origin. Even within my family, I’ve experienced racism, colorism, etc, and it was always baffling to me growing up. I think the internet has allowed the ghouls to finally feel comfortable taking their mask off in public. If we could stop that hate, especially from majority groups (regionally dependant), then we could truly push for societies that lift us all up.

This is not shocking or surprising. Trump represents white America, and this is pure, unadulterated, white America. The internet has allowed white Americans to be their complete shit selves in relative anonymity to the point that they now realize the majority of their brethren are bathing in the same fecal pools, so that many are emboldened to go mask off. Ask any person of color what their experience is online, and they’ll tell you this is typical white behavior, including white women (we see you Stacey).

That’s standard practice, unfortunately, in detention facilities (prisons, jails, concentration camps, etc) across the country. It is a violation of the eighth amendment and in violation of federal law (only within the last decade), though enforcement and paths to address it by imprisoned women are limited. This is by design, of course. The prison (slave) system is hard baked for sex-based and racial violence. The majority of the population supports abhorrent treatment of prisoners for myriad reasons, if only due to the puritan ideal that there is no punishment too grotesque for violaters of even the most trivial of laws.

That, and many of these businesses have local subsidiaries, so be wouldn’t really have the power to “cut them off” in any real sense without some kind of legislation making out illegal for them to operate outside the US.
