That is completely, utterly wrong. Climate scientists are talking about the physical concept of the tipping point, which is observed in nature and also comes out of their models. In climate, it’s the point at which reversing a change that originally happened over decades would take thousands of years. My point is, tipping points are absolutely not an arbitrary thing. They are very solid predictions based on the physics of the climate. We don’t necessarily understand exactly how close we are, even though we’re observing some effects of being close to them, but the impacts of crossing them will make climate change even worse and hence the alarm.

Edit: If anyone reads these links and your eyes glaze over and you don’t understand of word of what’s written, then you need the humility to listen and accept what climate scientists have been trying to tell you. Some of the smartest people on the planet have been working on this for decades.

I can’t even remember the last time I even saw a cop doing speed enforcement in Toronto. Definitely not on the highways. It makes total sense to automate this, and I highly doubt anybody lost their job over it.

Honest to god, it’s not that hard to do 40 km/h in these zones. They post a sign telling you there’s a speed camera coming up. You just have to go 40 for like 20 meters to avoid a ticket.

I found another cereal - Made Good has this “crispy light granola cocoa crunch” that’s usually in the organic section, by the granola, but it’s definitely just straight up cereal. It’s weirdly not on their website either. I’ve tried a few flavours and they’re fine. If you go into it expecting granola, you’re going to be disappointed, so think of them more like a cross between rice krispies and granola…

I tried the chocolate banana flavour and it’s OK too. The banana bits are really more like marshmallows, so again, manage your expectations lol.

As a bonus, I also discovered Jordan’s granola is made in the UK by a UK company, so that’s another alternative if you’re just trying to avoid US products.

Overly simplistic take. We don’t deal with America as a single entity at all. Look at our tariff responses and the way we target specific Republican states.

I’m not saying you need to go out and spend all your money in the US, but let’s not catastrophise here or play it up more than it is. I don’t think American voters genuinely understood or expected most of what they’re getting right now (even if they deserve it).

That the US hates Canada hasn’t changed.

Looks fun. The audio is absolute dogshit in this trailer though - it sounds like both the mixing is bad and the audio bitrate is super low (they messed up the render). Hope they got someone better to handle it for the final cut.

Looks pretty spooky! The first movie really stuck with me. The second one, not so much, but I will never forget its intro sequence with the boat. I don’t think I can remember anything else about it.

Here’s hoping the third one is good! Alex Garland as writer seems promising, as he wrote the original 28 Days Later.

I feel like Loblaws and the other stores they run always play stupid games with prices. They didn’t really show that this was anything different than say, the same month a year ago. The article and methodology just feels kinda shoddy and empty. “We did a shit analysis and came up with weird results, now here’s some experts saying random things.”
