  • Tier lists originated in video game culture pretty much. It’s a way to try to subjectively rank things within a game by its viability. The s tier thing comes from Japan I believe, where in some academic cases they give an S grade for excellent performance. In the context of tier lists the reason there might be a S+ tier is because some characters might be really really good and are in S tier but some characters are just way better than everyone else and are in a league of their own.

  • I don’t really care how old someone is as long as they have control of their mental faculties and they continue to serve the people. But obviously in a capitalist country as the USA that isn’t the case. Same thing with term limits, if they continue to do their job well I don’t care. Obviously I’m speaking about socialist countries though so if a person like Xi (who’s 70) continues doing a good job I’m all for them continuing being in their position.

  • I remember he also pointed out the self-censorship journalists go through as well. They think they are free to report on whatever, but especially earlier in their careers they learn that certain stories will be rejected by their editors or if accepted by editors, anger comes their way from higher ups. And from those experiences they learn to not write about certain things because they know it won’t reach print or air on TV.

I also have the book saved on my e-reader and tried finding the part you talk about (I remember reading it) but couldn’t find it.
