Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•People angry that Superman represents kindness are outright admitting that they don't want to be good peopleEnglish
201·6 months agoI’m out of the loop here. I’ve seen something about the most recent director or writer calling Superman an immigrant, and Dean Cain hating on that take and calling it “woke”. But I haven’t seen anyone expressing that Superman should not represent kindness.
FWIW if you are looking at reviews for an upcoming or recently released movies, and a lot of the comments are calling it “too political” or “woke”, give it a watch and come back with your own review. Those reviews are an indicator to me that it might be somewhat thought-provoking. (or also don’t watch if you have no interest in the subject)

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•why are website language switchers in the current language?English
7·6 months agoI think his point was that they are using different alphabets, and therefore can’t be sorted “alphabetically”… there’s no N or J in 日本語. In order to sort alphabetically, we would have to pick an alphabet, which will in some cases contradict the alphabet of the language’s native speakers.
who here said anything about call of duty?
edit: in case you were genuinely asking in good faith, it’s different because disco elysium is not a capitalist mouthpiece

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Woman who threw bowl of food at Chipotle worker sentenced to work 2 months in fast food jobEnglish
13·2 years agoThis was my first thought as well. But on the other hand, I thinks it’s great if we can set aside our desire for punishment/retribution and just increase empathy. (Walk a mile in their shoes)
Maybe on their last day of service, the person they assaulted gets to throw a burrito bowl in their face. Then we get the best of both worlds.

Big over-promise. We’re heavily incentived to use an AI coding agent at work. I try to be optimistic and treat it like a tool to help me do things I already know how to do but a little bit faster. It takes multiple iterations of “no, this still isn’t working” to get something that I can touch up and push for review. The idea that I can prompt it and then step away for ten minutes to make coffee and return to an app is ludicrous.
Maybe one day that will be possible. Then I’ll find a new job I guess
