The trick to running any server is to either do what the players want or do a thing and recruit players that want to do that thing.

If your server is dying, you need to find out WHY? Ask the players and decide if you can fix their problem as the host. Sometimes it’s best to switch gears, sometimes you need to find different/more players.

In general to keep players you need to keep them engaged.

When I play with actual friends, I play how they like so they enjoy the time and are likely to play again. Sometimes it’s persistent creative with strict themes, other times we might run a bunch of pvp mini games.

As a host you can always be more involved. Having a set event day works well if you can commit and plan. I would host fishing tournaments every Sunday morning. They were dead some weeks but other times everyone would show up. But the important thing is that everyone knew of they showed up on Sunday morning they could fish and win prizes. Doesn’t matter what you do (scavenger hunts, pvp, racing), but advertise it and do it on a schedule.

I play on my phone because I live off-grid and don’t have reliable electricity. I use my Xbox One controller and put the phone in a stand and power it all with a big battery.

Yeah usually just means no mods.

Notice that he didn’t make any effort to catch himself. This isn’t a person that normally does things like this or the crash wouldn’t have been a solid faceplant.

Here’s what everyone isn’t getting.

Public bathrooms are accessible to those that contribute to society.

Not saying this is right, it’s just how it is. Even places that have a “purchase policy” don’t care, the policy only exists to keep problems to a minimum and is usually only enforced against those that look like they might cause problems.

YOU have never been TOLD a gas station bathroom required a purchase. Likely because you pulled up in a vehicle and look normal enough. But I’m willing to bet money if you wander up on foot and look homeless you’ll find out they actually do have that policy.

I’ve been on all sides of this. As the strung out homeless kid that just wanted a quiet warm “nice” place to do my drugs. Then the struggling young adult having to wash blood, hair and literal shit off every surface in there. And then the manager having to enforce these policies because if I don’t my employees (or myself) have to go deal with whatever problems are created in the bathroom (and the WILL be a mess to clean up 98% of the time).

They are just as bad with current tech. Those of us who grew up as the internet was becoming more than just BBS and college databases had to learn the tech to use it.

Now everything “just works” so nobody needs to learn anything. Nothing is made to be repaired so if something breaks you just buy a new one. The younger generations can’t even type properly on a keyboard even though they’ve been using them their entire lives.

With corporate monopolies, more advanced AI, and the failing of the education systems it will only get worse.
