I currently use Strongbox on macOS and iOS. While it is definitely a product tailored to more advanced users, it is still easy to use IMO, and there’s currently no better option for those who want a native Mac app built exclusively for the Mac. There’s no proprietary cloud storage like popular commercial password managers (you can use iCloud, OneDrive, Dropbox, WebDAV, transfer over your local network, etc.), and it uses KeePass, so there is no lock in either. Additionally, if you suffer from subscription fatigue, there’s an option to purchase a lifetime license. I love it, and would recommend the product to those who are on Apple platforms. It doesn’t have all of the features of 1Password just yet, but the developer is very responsive, and it is getting better all of the time.
I switched over from 1Password, as I was not very impressed with the direction they were heading. 1Password 7 is better in every way compared to 1Password 8, IMO. Also, moving from AppKit to Electron for their Mac app was simply not acceptable to me either, and there was no way I was ever going to pay an annual subscription for the “pleasure” of using it. I only ever paid up because of their high quality apps, and when that was no longer the focus, I was out.
FWIW, the app developer name did used to be “Gavin Casdorph”, and now it is “Culivio LLC”. Obviously the reason for the change is probably innocuous, but OP is not making that part up.
Great update! Thanks so much for bringing back compact mode for posts. You knocked it out of the park, and I think it is pretty perfect the way that it is now with respect to text size, information density, content layout, etc.
I think it would be great to see a compact mode for comments as well, that would change things like text size, content layout (one line for username, timestamp, vote counts instead of two), hiding certain elements (save, reply) etc. I’m not sure if you have anything in your upcoming customization update for that. :)
Edit: Also, I’m not sure if you are aware, but the options for All/Subscribed/Local that you get when you long press on the Mlem app icon do not seem to work. When selected, the app opens, but that is it.
Ah, so that’s what happened! A few days ago, I was trying to respond to Eric’s reply to my comment in the post for the prior TestFlight build, and was wondering why it seemed to be deleted. I thought I was going crazy for a minute!
Anyway, good luck to the team going forward! I hope everything is smooth, drama free, and most importantly, enjoyable leading up to your first stable release. 😀
Thanks so much for the update! I appreciate all of your hard work in getting a great Lemmy client out the door so quickly. I have to ask, though, about the compact post layout. What’s happened to it? It’s no longer, well, compact! The new design adds a lot of white space and the elements seem significantly larger, which defeats the purpose, IMO. I liked the version in the previous TestFlight build much more.
Great work! The new profile view is definitely gorgeous and seems very polished at first glance. Once again, I’m very impressed! I can’t wait to see what comes next. 😀
Wow! This update is absolutely wonderful! I am amazed at how far you’ve come in such a short period of time. I first installed Mlem the night before the Reddit blackout started, and you’ve definitely come leaps and bounds since then. Great job!
While I usually prefer something that follows Apple’s design language, this looks very, very nice! I’m very impressed at far you got after just a few hours.
If you are entertaining feature requests, one thing I’d like to see from third-party Reddit clients like Apollo, Slide, and Narwhal is Haptic Touch throughout. Haptic Touch link previews, post previews, parent comments when you long press a comment, etc. This has always been one of my favorite features, and far too many apps don’t incorporate this.
Yep, I am familiar. :) It’s hard to not be with how popular wefwef/Voyager is.
