Rather, the USSR criminalized being homeless and not being engaged in socially-productive labor; people that were homeless ended up in prisons and were labelled as parasites.
Swap USSR with USA and the statement remains true. Though Im sure the degree of severity was much greater in the USSR.

Does your housing have curfews enforced upon you? Does it require you to get rid of all of your possessions? Are you kicked out of it due to preexisting conditions? I am assuming not and I would guess that you would reject such housing as well. They are rejecting being treated as lesser human beings.

Basically sediment from the Appalachian region was deposited by ancient rivers and wind currents, with this sediment later being uplifted and then eroded to form the Rockies.

I found a one pot recipe on YouTube that has you cook the rice first and then add soaked lentils afterwards to finish cooking. One would think that this would make both mushy, but once you add the lentils they begin to take up all the heat and liquid. As mentioned if you attempt the opposite the lentils will still absorb the liquid even after you add the rice and you end up with undercooked lentils/rice unless you let it go for quite some time.
Ahh i missed that part. I have used a one pot version in which you start by cooking the rice and then afterwards adding presoaked lentils to cook. Of course with enough water to cook both.
Except the national guard is the closest analog to the well armed militia mentioned in the 2nd amendment. The founders didn’t think highly of a federal military, so the 2nd amendment was written to empower the states to organize their own militias that could be called upon when necessary. These effectively went away with the founding of the national guard since the Federal government ultimately also has control over the national guard and the 2nd amendment was interpreted to give the states freedom to regulate guns. This was the understanding until starting 2008.
Such a great dish! I have ruined it the last few times I tried to make it by cooking the lentils before the rice, do not do this! Otherwise, you can pretty much use any type of rice you want. I once used wild rice and it turned out great!
TheScaryDoor@startrek.websiteto politics @lemmy.world•New House Speaker Tells Hannity, ‘Go Pick Up a Bible Off Your Shelf and Read It – That’s My Worldview’22·1 year agoYes, but in the US you have Catholics and all the various sects that fractured from the Catholic church, i.e. Christians who don’t follow the pope. They all follow Christianity, which makes them all Christians, but whether they focus on Jesus Christ and the New Testament or focus on god and the Old Testament is where the distinction lies.
TheScaryDoor@startrek.websiteto politics @lemmy.world•New House Speaker Tells Hannity, ‘Go Pick Up a Bible Off Your Shelf and Read It – That’s My Worldview’96·1 year agoThe way I have always viewed Christians vs Catholics is that Christians fundamentally believe faith in god is the only requirement. In Catholicism it is not enough to believe, but they believe that good deads are required, hence Catholic guilt. In that way, Christians don’t really care about the new testament and the teachings of jesus, believe in god is all they require to be good Christians.
