I always thought it was “Woo! Yeah!” not “Yeah! Woo!”

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Society is starting to appropriately accommodate neurodivergence, yet stupid/idiot/crazy/lazy etc. stay in the vocabulary.English
41·4 天前This thread certainly is full of interesting takes.
“People who get called stupid are just the result of the luck of the draw”
“REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE NOOOO I WANNA CALL PEOPLE STUPID HOW DARE YOU BAN WORDS PEOPLE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO BE ASSHOLES”

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What’s your most controversial opinion?English
1·6 天前Good points, and I agree.
I do like Pinball (I just suck at it) and I always thought the machines are really really neat. I’m happy to see someone bring them up! I suppose it’s just that they’re a bit inaccessible. Having one in your home is a whole thing and going to an arcade is another whole thing.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What’s your most controversial opinion?English
3·7 天前Pinball is grossly under-appreciated, and its progression is a great example of doing new things with old ideas.
Explain.
Not because I strongly disagree, but I’m curious since you bring it up as a controversial take.

103·8 天前i think people not knowing how to actually win an argument against a bigot is exactly the reason there are so many these days
shit’s easy. not that they’ll admit defeat but getting them babbling irrational nonsense takes very little debating skills. and when they inevitably start throwing ad hominems, then the mods have legitimate grounds to kick them out.

5·25 天前I love these kinds of deep dives. If intelligence is happening at this scale, it suggests that “mind” might be the substrate of reality rather than just a byproduct of biology.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What Fediverse instances would you recommend to others?English
32·25 天前Oh yeah, this is perfect for me!

You see, if we tell parents that it’s actually super important that they raise their kids, I’m sure they will do it. Just like if we tell everyone that a vaccine for a dangerous disease is a really good idea, everyone will just settle down and go get it.
