Big fan of Posteo here too. I’ve always found their customer support very responsive and helpful.
The only drawback for me is that they don’t support custom domains, which I can understand. I’ve yet to wrap my head round how I could use use a Posteo emal address alongside multiple aliases on a custom domain (perhaps using something like addy.io or similar).
Beautiful Matilda. I’m so sorry.
So sorry for your loss. He looks such a handsome boy. The love clearly flowed in both directions.

24·1 month agoSo glad that Bonnie has made it home. You’re amazing for doing what you do, and it’s so lovely that the vet covered the costs. Wishing you and Bonnie every good wish!

17·1 month agoI couldn’t have said this any better. What you did and are doing is amazing, and these little ones had love and warmth and care from you. Who can ask for more than that?
Thinking of you and Bonnie.

I don’t think I could do what you do when this is one of the possible outcomes of fostering. But thank you for doing what you do!

Fediverse@lemmy.world•How do I get a circle on mastodon (or any other non-thread social media)English
1·2 months agoExactly this, and the other benefit of hashtags (at least on some apps for Mastodon) is that you can mute them. So, if you’re following someone whose posts you enjoy, except their posts about #rugby, you can mute those posts and not see any of them. I find it a really great way to keep my feed as only those things I’d prefer to see.

9·2 months agoI agree it’s definitely worth following hashtags liberally for things you’re interested in. Your feed should really open up with that.
But it’s also worth doing a longish #introduction post, adding hashtags of things you like and pinning that to your profile. You might already have done that but you can always do a fresh one. People will also boost introduction posts so that might get your profile out there more.
I have an introduction pinned on my profile if it helps: https://beige.party/@brian
I’m still not seeing the downside here, because…well…cats.
I want to live in a country where “cats jumping out” is what they’re warning people about!

1·3 months agoI have a domain2 for all mailing list and non-critical services, which I’d be able to take elsewhere if I ever change provider (I’m with Tuta so I’m hoping not to have to do that anytime soon).
I own domain1 for all friends, family and critical services (like banking etc). So far, it works well.

Books@lemmy.ml•Here are the 25 best pieces of Horror Fiction of the 21st century so far...English
3·4 months agoI did quite enjoy the original novel of The Ritual but I’m surprised to see it take the number 1 spot. I’m also a fan of House of Leaves.
Of the 25 books here, my top three would John Langan’s The Fisherman (he is a superb writer); the Ligotti collection; and the Laird Barron collection.

15·4 months agoOh, she’s gorgeous. Wonderful that you found each other - she looks quite settled already!
It is. I am always so envious of our cats’ ability to sleep no matter what time of day it is or how much light/noise there is.
Alaric is so sweet!
She’s such a beautiful little one. Thank you for rescuing her and giving her a loving home.

I also have a Tuta account which is where I use my custom domain addresses (the number of aliases is unlimited there too, and I have so many!).
From what I’ve read, I’m not sure Posteo has a solution to this issue. I’ve read about a workaround, but also that it might have some issues.
But I do love Posteo for their stance on privacy and use of green energy, and the price is so reasonable. I’m thinking I might just have half a dozen or aliases there: one for mailing lists, one for online ordering, one for non-essential website logins and so on.
