Regardless of the origin, it’s still a bit too close to corporate worship for me.

And as shitty as it is to selectively filter posts like that, I don’t think it’s a problem worth creating a bot for track. OP calling it out to make others aware was the right thing to do - let the users there decide if they care.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to create my own instance: McChicken.zone

  • To add your last paragraph - today’s robot may be worse but next year’s robot might not be. And with how far Boston Dynamics (and others) have come in such a short time, it’s not hard to imagine that future getting here soon.

Corporations have shown time and time again they fire people by the thousands as soon as it’s financially viable and since this tech will be implemented quickly across the industry, those ex-employees won’t be able to find work. Governments need to start taking UBI seriously if they don’t want to massive civil unrest.

As much as I cringe at the “come and take it” crowd, a lot of them work these at-risk jobs. They will take their anger at their ex-employee and aim it at the government.

  • Nah, I have a different gripe:

When the reddit exodus happened, Lemmy was flooded with copycat communities for every popular subreddit. That’s fine with me. But what’s not fine is that very few of these communities use the same posting rules (if any at all) so they’re homogenized. Like what is the difference between nostupidquestions and asklemmy?

I have another one that’s not specific to Lemmy but absolutely applies: meme “communities” where it’s all reposted content. I used community in quotes because these communities/subreddits/Instagram accounts are just…meme archives. You’ll find the same shit in every single meme archive on the internet. It feels like it’s less about sharing and more about having the biggest bucket.

  • It’s not a gotcha because I’m not trying to get you. I am making fun of your superiority complex and ridiculous claims that people who don’t to move to a new country when their government is doing bad stuff are supporting genocide.

Just because YOU allegedly found it so easy to drop everything in your life doesn’t mean everyone has that ability. We are a social species and a lot of us aren’t emotionally capable of that kind of separation, not to mention everyone caring for or being cared for by others.

1/3 of the country is struggling to survive paycheck to paycheck and your self-righteous ass is out here calling them heartless. You don’t deserve the pedestal you’ve placed yourself on

  • The difference between me and my ancestors who came to this country is that my ancestors came together as a families and other settlers, you sanctimonious douchebag.

My support network is my friends and family and yes, proximity matters a great deal to providing said support. You think people get the same thing from talking to strangers than the people they’ve known for 30+ years? Get real. Maybe your arrogance is keeping you from forming meaningful bonds with people.

You’re up on your high horse telling someone to start their life over because their taxes add a drop into the ocean of military funding. To think that moving countries will have any meaningful impact on the deaths of innocent people is truly assinine.

    Go stroke your ego elsewhere
