Ps3 pads can be bought very cheaply used. I replaced the battery on mine (they are to old in most pads today), but did not bother doing it for the kids pads. They work well enough with a USB cable connection.

Selbsgebautes Bidet (Schlauch mit bidet-duschkopf und ein paar Schnüffelstücke zum Einbau) hat mich ca. 30 Euro gekostet (inklusive mehrmals zum Baumarkt fahren und endlich das richtige Schnüffelstück kaufen). N paar kleine Gästehandtücher von Ikea zum Nachwischen und später in der Waschmaschine mitwaschen dazu und man kann den Toilettenpapierverbrauch quasi auf null reduzieren. Spart jede Menge Geld, schont die Umwelt und der Arsch wird endlich auch ordentlich sauber. Mal im ernst, wenn die Kacke irgendwo anders an die haut komm, kommt auch niemand auf die Idee zu sagen: mit n bisschen Papier abwischen reicht schon.

Beste Anschaffung seit langem, nie wieder ohne bidet.

I think it’s still the best keyboard for typing I’ve ever used. The tactile feedback is just awesome and the noise is actually very helpful to keep a rhythm going, improving typing speed because you mistype less, I believe.

I started my PC journey with an early cherry keyboard, one of those rubber dome/mechanical hybrid copies of the original model m. It was not too bad, I think. I then used some Logitech rubber domes for e next two decades or so. Heard that mechanical keyboards are a thing five years ago or so. Bought one of those cherry hybrids again but found that it was alright for gaming but not that great for typing. Then bought the cheapest blue switch mechanical Chinese keyboard to write my thesis on which was really great for typing but annoyed the fuck out of every one at the uni library I am sure. Bit the bullet and bought a model m as a full size keyboard for home use. And also a very cheap numpad-less brown switch one for gaming (15 euros including shipping because the h key was broken). It was an easy soldering job and has been my go to (fps) gaming one for ever since.

So yeah, model m is still the typing king for me and brown keys are best for gaming imho. But if you are on a budget, a blue key mechanical keyboard will be still very satisfying for typing.

How are you supposed to play this? Light guns only work on crt-screens if I am not completely mistaken. They should rather remake “The typing of the dead” :)

Consider undervolting cpu and gpu and you will be able to get away with a leaner psu. I always do this and there really is no downside if you overclock the gpu a little to compensate for the undervolting. Your system will run cooler as well often stopping cpu/gpu from throttling down, so with a bit of luck you can even gain performance while saving on power. It depends on the cpu/gpu combo, but you can expect to save around 50 Watts under full load with both components properly undervoltet.

Here’s a very good guide for undervolting your gpu under windows, it’s meant for nvidia gpus but the process is very similar with amd gpu’s and/or under linux.

Snikket is easy to host in a docker container. You would have your own internet messenger for friends and family. Snikket is based on the xmpp protocol thats been around for 20 years, is tried and tested and very lightweight and does take very few resources on your server. things like Nintendo’s messenger and WhatsApp are xmpp based).

Thanks, I did not realise that. So this app is for Mac to Mac communication only. If seems for briar you need to run a server still or messages will get lost between mobile users. How does this new app solve that problem? On mobile phones disconnects will happen regularly as network coverage changes and different network towers connect and disconnect when you are on the move. You might as well spin up your own xmpp server at that point, as that protocol is tried and tested for over 20 years and very lightweight and battery friendly as well…

There is already a really good foss app that does exactly that, it’s called briar and is as secure and private as it gets. The downside with p2p communication apps being, that they eat your phones battery for breakfast. Still a good option for activists or journalists I think. It’s a good way to get around the “server in the middle” problem. Still more convenient to run your own (xmpp) server at home imho…
