3·9 days agoIf you like using the mouse alot and you’re more comfortable with clicking than yeah there’s really no point in using a tiler.
I disagree with this. I use keyboard shortcuts for moving my tiles and switching desktops but otherwise I use the mouse. I have found great value in using a tiler, not having to manage windows or having them overlap is awesome.
Worst of all, just setting up a tiling environment is a nightmare. You have to configure the actual compositor/WM, which tools you want to use with it (bar, launcher, screenshot tool, notifications, screenlocker, etc) and configure all those too, ideally with some basic theming to make them look coherent. But inevitably you end up with missing functionality especially in the modern area where an app might be sandboxed or expecting all xdg-portals to be implemented, which most compositors don’t do.
Khronkite is worth checking out in relation to this point. It requires minimal setup (keybinds + choosing tiling layout) so it’s a good introduction to tiling WMs. I’m guessing more experienced users would prefer more control but I like it just fine.

24·25 days agoI especially fucking hate when mods are distributed solely through discord. That’s so fucking stupid and a really quick way to ensure I never play what you made.
From my limited research it looks as though the Punkt mp02 is the best bet for a private dumbphone. It does use a propriety OS but at least it supports Signal.

4·1 month agoI had a similar issue where I wanted to use my Xbox Series X to play Jellyfin but there was no client available. I ended up switching from Plex to Emby. I tested it for a month and then bought a lifetime pass, I’m quite happy with it. The client definitely isn’t as polished as Plex’s clients are but they allow me to do everything I want with much more control. I especially like the plugin system, being able to create my own persistent 24/7 faux tv channels is A++
Yup, having to join each server to access information means we (I presume) won’t be able to archive it via ArchiveTeam Warrior.

Which extension are you referring to? Is it the standard Wayback Machine extension or a youtube specific one?
Ah, sweet, thanks for the info. Having to unplug my ultrawide so it uses my secondary monitors 16:9 aspect ratio would be a nice issue to avoid, I’ll try out Apollo.
