I didn’t have the patience to watch the original and stopped halfway through. Now I’d have to rewatch from the beginning to make sense of it and that won’t happen. Rarely was I that angry at me for not finishing a series.
imo it is as good as the original but some major parts of the story have been rewritten (not sure if I should spoiler it). As long as you are fine with something that isn’t following canon completely, you will probably find it pleasant to watch
