China has never made any bones about it, they are a one party totalitarian state that rules with an iron fist. Their working population are veritable slaves, working 6-12’s, 6 days a week, 12 hours a day, with little benefit or protection, many forced off family farms in generations prior in the great leap forward, and thrown into the industrial meat grinder in cities they do not have residency, they are illegal immigrants in the cities they live and work, it’s not like in the US. They can be beat up, jailed, thrown out of town on a word of their employer.
Their companies dump their waste in the ditch behind the factory, abuse their workers, and otherwise are the whores of wall street, to use the greed of our capitalists against them, getting not only all of our technology, but also their factories built and machines supplied, to allow capital to sell out unions and environmental protections in the west.

It has but no one’s paying attention. It’s a country where you can’t even type “LGBTQ” in a private text message - that’s bare minimum litmus test and China has always been failing it.
