What? The fact that Instagram accounts were used to seed Threads’ userbase is straight out of Instagram’s announcement of Instagram’s new text feature called… Threads.

Threads has no separate account from Instagram, so having an account with threads is equivalent to having activated the threads feature.
How did they lose half of their users if most of them weren’t real users to begin with?
I don’t think that’s surprising at all, did anyone expect them to keep all 100 million they got in the first week? We’re currently at 120 million and I’m pretty sure they’re quite happy if half of those stick around.
