It makes sense. I have a car out of necessity because it’s a 15 min drive to work or 2.5 hours by bus. I got an ebike 3 years ago and now much prefer to run errands by bike instead of the hassle of driving. Parking lots alone are so stressful. My car is now in the garage unless I’m going to work or taking the pets to the vet, whereas I used to drive everywhere.
Agreed. I lived in NYC for 5 years and e-bikes were king, unless it was raining or the winter. Also you need to have balls of stall to ride around in Manhattan (in most parts).
I live in Miami now and e-scooters are everywhere. I don’t have a car down here, but you definitely need one to get outside of a few mile area. Once I finally get a job, I’m definitely getting an e-scooter (the foldable kind) because they have a great range, they’re fast, and I don’t need to pay for gas, insurance or parking. I’ll need to bring my car down here eventually though because the scooter is only good for a few miles.
My job is moving offices next year and Ill be able to ride to work, but my job description says I need to have a car for work (they pay us a vehicle allowance) so Im going to buy an insanely small engined cheap piece of shit and leave it in the work carpark, only use it for work and track every cent I spend on it so I can deduct any extra expenses at tax time AND get more exercise.
Just imagine if we had similar subsidies on ebikes that we have on EVs.
What bike is this? Seems not a standard shape but my God I want one for exactly this reason
Tern HSD or GSD
As a avid and lifelong motorcyclist, this makes me happy. Electric motorcycles will show up in volume eventually and the line between electric bicycles and electric motorcycles will get blurred. Some young electric bike riders will move to electric motorcycles, which is good for the sport

Nice! Now where do you park them? They’re banned from being parked indoors or in garages in many locations, because of battery fires and explosions…
First solve your HOA issue. There’s way more places without such stupid law and you should fixate your annoyance on your government and HOA instead of a transportation tool.
Did I say anything about HOA? I’m referring to apartments. As if someone that owns a home would actually shame themselves by riding an electric bicycle when they can get a Tesla.
Ahh, car brain, defensive as always, never consider the alternative. Have a nice day…in a traffic jam.
Obviously you don’t know me or my presence online. I don’t own a vehicle and haven’t owned a vehicle since 2015. I’m a proud BMX flatland rider, thank you very much.
Goodbye.
Good! Your question above is pointless then.
Wrong. What if I wanted to get an electric bike? Only to find I can’t park it inside my apartment?
That’s the point dummy.
You’ve made no attempt to answer my original question, you’ve only spit out “car brain” at someone that hasn’t owned a car in almost a decade.
I only brought up Tesla owners because they can actually afford a house. People on electric bikes can probably barely afford an apartment.
Get real with your assumptions and nonsense.

I really can’t be bothered with people with such aggressive tone trying to proof an issue someone already solved out there.
In Finland you’re allowed to park mopeds where ever you’re allowed to park bikes aswell (as long as it’s outdoors)
When I was 15 and had my 50cc scooter I remember the 5 litre gasoline tank lasting me about a week. Yeah it’s still burning fossil fuels but at that rate the emissions are quite insignificant. Being 4-stroke it was quiet too and didn’t make my clothes smell like exhaust fumes.
Fair enough. Where I’m at on the Gulf Coast in the USA, there’s like absolutely nowhere to park bikes outside, other than trying to find a sign or a pole or tree that’s out of the way to lock it up to.
And even then, you wouldn’t want to lock an ebike up overnight outside, someone eventually will come along and cut the lock and steal it. ☹️
Great! Now do the container ships that move them and their parts to their sellers.
How do you think cars are moved around?
Delivered by bike, duh.
We must solve every single problem in the entire chain at the same time or it’s not worth it. Apparently.
Improvements to shipping emissions would have a much bigger impact than switching to electric bikes. The US not being so obsessed with beef and corn production wouldn’t hurt either.
