minus-squareAggravationstation@feddit.uklinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up30·1 year agoI think this is why smoke detectors take 9-volt batteries now.
minus-squareFredy1422@lemmy.mllinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up8·1 year agothey have, although some do take AA or AAA batteries but its very uncommon. some especially carbon monixide dectectors have internal batteries that require replacement.
minus-squarevariants@possumpat.iolinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up8arrow-down1·1 year agoWe just bought new smoke detectors and they take AA, I bought a 9v just out of assumption and got home and was blown away
minus-squareGladiusB@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1arrow-down4·1 year ago9v are just two AAs wrapped together. So not surprised.
minus-squarerandombulletlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·1 year agoEh not quite. AA are 1.5v so two would only be 3v. You might be thinking of the big 6v lantern batteries. They’re usually 4 x 1.5v cells together.
minus-squareGladiusB@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·1 year agoI thought I watched some YouTube video where they linked them and it worked. But who knows how accurate the numbers were. I guess not since you know.
minus-squarebitchkat@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·1 year agoGet the ones with the built in 10 year battery. Smoke and CO2 combo.
minus-squareA_Very_Big_Fan@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·edit-21 year agoUnrelated but a few days ago I found out you’re not supposed to stick two 9v’s together when I burnt the shit outta my fingertips :3
minus-squareBradleyUffner@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·1 year agoYeah… That’s basically creating a short circuit. Don’t do that.

Haven’t they always taken 9v?
