Yeah, that’s a nasty military failure, but the Cuban communists were not the bad guys in that period, relative to the other powers in Latin America. I don’t actually know anything about Trujillo, but I bet I can make good guesses about what kind of leader he was.
And they were right to try. Trujillo was a monster.
