Spaghetti-Os are disgusting.
I had them again for the first time in probably 15 years and man that shit is nasty. Overly sweetened mildly acidic sludge in a can. The “meat” might be the worst part.
I tried them last year and I have to say they brought back childhood. So many memories!
But when I tried again, they didn’t have the original style without meat. That stuff was vile even when I was a kid. You know it’s bad when chopping up cheap hot dogs to put in it are far above the “hot dogs” style
I… I love them. I don’t know what it is but the more processed the food the more I want it. And these things taste like they’ve been assembled from compounds never actually found in nature.
Did you grow up eating them? My wife did, and she loves this trash, too.
I am disgusted by this and similar canned pastrocities. But I didn’t eat it when I was a kid. What I did eat was Vienna sausages. Some people call them viennie weenies where I’m from. They are objectively garbage, but I like them still.
I have a fondness for cheap canned meats, including fish. I’m sure this is a result of spending a good part of my childhood in poverty, but damn does that shit hit.
Hell yeah I’ll wreck some sardines. I also like fried spam with rice. I like most canned meats really. I LOVE corned beef hash from a can. I fried some up with eggs for dinner just a couple days ago.
Yep. That whole plate looks like my childhood.
Agreed, the tiny questionably meat meatballs are my favorite.
Yesss
It was very disappointing recently to open a can of them only to find out it was noodles, sauce, and literally nothing else.
I grew up in a house where bolognaise was a near-sacred endeavour that took all day for a batch lot that gave us freezables and lasagnas for months. Stepmum tried to feed me spaghetti in a can once. It…did not go well
Depends highly on the variant. Plain noodle ones are great, but the meat ones are nasty
No, one’s just nastier than the other.
Poverty charqutery.
as if i wouldn’t continue eating this no matter how rich i was, only difference is that they’d be more ethically sourced and where possible vegan.
Probably same, but, for now I have an excuse lol
Charcuterie ?
Sharcootree
Zharqueueteræ
Lol yeah, I even googled it, and just assumed it corrected correctly
Can confirm, my autistic brain wants this Platter badly
Why is it that autistic people prefer bland processed food sometimes? I’m pretty sure my brother, who is not diagnosed, is autistic and he went like eight years only eating microwaved pizzas and microwaved pizza-adjacent products.
Autism affects how senses are processed, and taste is a sense - some autistic people don’t want things that are strong or that vary a lot, preferring consistency instead.
With that being said, it’s not a universal thing, different people are affected differently.
for me autism contains a form of neophobia, the aversion to new things. this food is the edible pendant to a comfy couch, that formed its cushions around you, because you sit in it all day the same.
The scale of this picture is very consufing.
- The dino nuggies are huge
- the bowl with rings in em seems very smol
- idk how large the face ones are
What is up with this one?
Everything seems normal to me, the mini-pizza might be throwing you off
That’s a family sized pizza. Everything else is enormous
If this is a mini pizza, then that bowl must be super smol
looks like a custard bowl to me, which are indeed super smol
I have a bunch of bowls that size and they’re quite small. It’s the pizza, it’s really small and has tiny pepperoni that make it look like a bigger pizza.
Are you by any chance not from the UK?
Yes I don’t know any of these.
Is it a sign that you’re not young when you see that and go ugh. How bout some veggies and stuff.
Maybe you haven’t aged enough. There’s an awkward period in your 30’s ~ 40’s where your brain is confused and forgets what delicious looks like. Don’t worry: you get it back in your 50’s.
You’re eating this shit in your 50s? I mean I love fried foods but if I’m gonna eat them I’m gonna get good stuff.
Oh, yeah. Ima take up smoking again when I turn 60. Statistically, something else will kill me long before I develop cancer if I start at that age.
I’m not opposed to better quality fried food, but there’s something comforting about being able to dig into the freezer and pull out something to shove in the oven, without having to make a trip out, wait for for, and/or eat in public.
I’m being all smug over hear just finishing one of my most healthy meals ever. I made tuna steak, roast potatoes, and spinach salad. Lots of bright colors!
Speak for yourself, this platter just gave me a second wind!:))
It’s giving me wind, all right …
That’s half the fun!;)
one part of my brain sees this and drools, another part of my brain knows how miserable it will be to poo after a day of eating only carbs and protein.
And this is why i feel you could make a tidy profit from selling chicken nuggets with ground up vegetables in them, like vitamin gummies except with food instead of candy. Meatballs are already basically this since they generally contain onion (at least in sweden).
Veggie “chicken” nuggets are already delicious! They’re just expensive. I’d rather have morningstar nuggets than anything in this picture on taste alone, and I’m not vegetarian.
yeah vegan nuggets are basically the best vegan meat replacement, and it fucking baffles me that they are at all expensive since it’s basically just pea/bean protein.
wait, is liking beige food autistic?
It isn’t irl though. Some people may prefer it, but it’s not an autism thing.
Because of sensory difficulties, some people with autism may have “safe” foods- foods that don’t have upsetting textures or tastes. These are different for everybody, but the foods pictured are pretty commonly inoffensive.
Yeah
/hj
My brain had a really hard time with the scale of the items on the plate. Where does one get a pizza the diameter of two dino nuggets, topped with tiny pepperoni?
Maybe, hear me out, the pizza is normal size, but everything else is just huge.
I legitimately went through a brief phase of entertaining that concept before deciding to use the Spaghetti-O’s as the scale anchor. It’s still entirely possible at this point.
If this is British - and it does look like British tapas - then that could well be a Chicago Town frozen mini pizza. They’re…not great, but they are convenient.
It is British, this is:
- Chicago Town Microwave Pepperoni Pizza.
- Bernard Matthews Turkey dinosaurs
- Potato smiles
- Chicken dippers
- Chicken fingers (all four above by McCains)
- Cajun Curly fries
- Heinz Spaghetti Hoops
- Birds Eye Potato Waffles
It’s a lovely bit of beige, and nice for a treat, but I’d rather have something a bit…less processed?
It is British, and it is a complete list of things my 7-year-old British son eats.
What are the grid shaped ones?
Ah, missed those. They’re birds eye potato waffles.
Good work!
Man, I want those tiny pizzas. I’d cook up a stack of ‘em, separate with wax paper, and keep ‘em as a snack on the go.
Fuckin pocket pizzas you kiddin me?
Not gonna lie, they’re great for what they are. In five mins you’ll have something that’s kinda like a pizza, that tastes nice, and is so hot you can heat a three bedroom house for an hour or two.
You do know that pizza can be made in any size right?
Same with sausages
Sure, but the rest are convenience foods. There’s nothing convenient about making a tiny pizza from scratch, and I’ve never seen anything like it in the frozen foods section.
I live in the states, they’re pretty common. They usually come in a little foil lined box with microwave instructions 😕
I’ve seen Celeste pizzas, but this one appears to be half that size.
The confusing thing about this pizza (to me at least) is the crust. The smaller you make the crust, the harder it is to make it consistently shaped. Being a small pizza, the crust must also be very small, and this is an incredibly consistent crust thickness.
Heartburn platter.
Heart attack platter
British charcuterie
Just need some kind of mayonnaise based dipping sauce and then I’m good.
like mayonnaise?
You son of a bitch. I’m in.
Rrrrraaaannnchhhhh
Although oyster sauce is pretty fckn mint with chicken nuggets
Not enough dark chocolate for me.
Ware your dark chocolate sources, my dear. Apparently Lindt has a ton of metals in it, which is tragic because they’re my favorite chocolate.
Baker’s chocolate, any brand.
fresh from the fridge, so you can shave it with your teeth and enjoy the shavings melting and for a moment feeling like chocolate pudding
Idk cant relate, im Autistic and I love spicy foods and generally foods with lots of spices. I would take a spicy Indian platter :3
Yeah, same here. The thought of eating what’s in that photo is actually repulsive to me. My go-to if I want something simple would be plain broccoli, black beans, and some lightly seasoned chicken.
so… beige…
Council charcuterie - best cuisine in the world
These are probably the least safe foods for me. I can feel the oil just looking at the picture. Sometimes it’s hard for me to have a hot plate of food in front of me because of the fumes. Knowing that the smell and the oil are clinging to me.
