Seems like a solid and overall expected effort, nothing groundbreaking. I think most of the seasoned fans expected these things. Which is good, if the basics are solid it’s easier to later build upon them. Personally, things I like the most are how citizen’s age influences their pathfinding, that we will be able to build new outside connections and of course new info views.

Also, in the video I noticed that drivers turn off their high beams at night when there’s another vehicle approaching in front of them, neat!

Nothing groundbreaking, but it might be enough to not necessarily need a mod like TMPE. And the high beams was such a cool detail!

Exactly, hopefully it will be one less thing to worry about. If the rest of dev diaries will be at least of this “nothing groundbreaking” quality we’re in for a good game I think.

is it just me or are these devs doing everything right? Incredibly informative, really frequent and detailed communication, and the product is looking to be a solid, significant improvement but largely in uncontroversial ways on the first game. Make everyone happy, alienate no-one. They seem so in tune with their player base, it’s rare to see. (Fingers crossed it remains so).

I gotta agree. Everything they’ve shown so far is a direct improvement to the first game. I think I remember hearing they hired or consulted the developers of many popular mods for the development of this game, and it’s really paid off.

No I fully agree. With what we have seen so far, I feel that this is the best possible outcome of a sequel to the game we all love.

The frequency and clarity of the updates are really appreciated. I know it’s a pre-release, and the “gameplay” was likely highly selected for, but it’s looking mighty polished!

Managing traffic is the most addicting part of CS for me. Super hyped for CS2. Rerouting is gonna add so much realism.

I’m surprised they’ve dropped a new video already. I thought they would space them out more because the release date is still some time away.

Yeah they’re doing two videos every week, it seems. One to accompany the feature highlights on Monday, and another devs highlight on Thursday

I’m excited for this game, I’ve loved city simulation games since playing Sim City 1 on SNES at a friends cabin. I hope the new traffic AI changes help, because C:S1 had such serious issues with traffic, it just insurmountable. If the AI changes help make the city actually flow correctly, maybe that’ll correct my number one problem in C:S1, dead bodies wouldn’t get picked up no matter how many crematoriums or cemeteries I had.

I hope this game comes out soon, the way they’re dripping info makes me feel like the release date they have in mind is waaaay out there.
