Sorry for the horrible picture. It’s hard enough to see with my eyes, let alone get a pic.
I feel like this pic could easily win some niche photography comp, it has such a strong liminal vibe. As for the paste; she’ll be right
Would make a dope retrosynth album cover.
I was not expecting a basic PC building question to follow this picture.
Leaving it is fine as that amount of excess thermal paste won’t have any detrimental effects.
If it bothers you enough however there are 2 ways you can remove it:
- q-tip with 99% isopropyl alcohol
- q-tip with electrical contact cleaner
For your case I’d recommend the first as it’s cheaper
Again however with that small amount you’ll be fine leaving it👍
Totally agreed. Most thermal paste is non-conductive, so it’s not really an issue if it goes too far. However, if you ever use liquid metal, you have to be more careful
The brand I am using is yeesterpaste. It was at microcenter. It has a little practice pad which was helpful. Turns out my gut feeling was not quite enough. But I may have been a little over zealous with the real one lol.
MOAR PASTE = MOAR BETTER
Imo that’s an incredible picture. Could be ai it’s so surreal.
Thanks! It probably looks odd because of the lighting and angle. My room has an overhead light that’s to the right, but I was using a magnetic flashlight to help on the left. Also, this is through a mesh panel. I think you can sort of tell if you look at the black heat sink (not the CPU one). It sort of gives a pattern over the image, but it’s so out of focus you can’t see it.
Looks good to me. Also, is that a Peerless Assassin?
Yes, it is! Good eye!
You’ll like it! I had one but had fitment issues (SFF build). Now I have a Phantom Spirit (non-SE or EVO), which is basically the same thing but with seven heat pipes and only 154mm tall.
The front fan on this doesn’t quite clear the RAM, but it’s so minor I think it’s fine being a tad higher.
For sure. The center fan is doing the hard work, and Noctua and others have started shipping these same cooling blocks with a single 140mm fan in the middle.
Here’s how I have mine (pulling from the back, top exhaust).
That’s totally fine. Send it homie!
