I remember not many people watching, when it aired. Many were upset that it was on a station.
The author is probably younger and didn’t get, where the “outcast” feeling came from.
Even worse viewing numbers was voyager. I felt like the only kid in school who watched voyager.
Turns that setting Star Trek at the mall was the best decision ever.
I sure am glad Babylon 5 came up with that idea for them
“It’s been a long road…” since I’ve considered DS9 the Star Trek outcast…heh
