The “pager attack” killed 42 people, including two children and two healthcare workers, while wounding another 2,800 people. The attacks targeted public areas, including cars, streets, and supermarkets, and many of the wounded suffered eye, hand, and brain injuries. Many survivors needed surgery, and some victims went blind or had to have their limbs amputated. One of the attacks killed an 11-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl, along with a nurse. At a funeral for some victims, another electronic device attack was carried out by Israel, wounding more people. It’s unknown how many Hezbollah operatives the attack actually killed.

You should see the hasbarists that tried to tell me that the operation was highly successful since it killed the children of Hezbollah operators, and that was its intended victims. In all honesty at that point I am actually surprised at the restraint that Hamas and everyone else has had on them. Iran and even the Houthis defeated Israel’s Iron Dome and David’s Sling so many times it isn’t funny, but they still act like it is some impenetrable forcefield that has never been defeated. Also all of the targets by Hezbollah and Iran have been purely military targets or symbolic while also pulling some major punches, while Israel targets civilians with wanton abandon and with the intent to do as much damage as possible to civilians and civilian infrastructure.
When Israel did get (mostly warhead-less) missiles launched at it, they expressed shock and acted as if Iran was some idiotic child-like state that did not understand that these are weapons that could hurt people. In the meantime they revel in the murder of children and civilians and even when releasing hostages as a part of their deal, they open fire at their buses.
And Israel has always been like this. It isn’t new.
This is such a strange take, but a popular one among Americans it seems. There are many more elements to why Trump is president, structural incentives especially money in politics and the specific democratic process that involves the Electoral College, districts etc. I’m not American yet even I know about these… don’t you guys? It’s sad because it seems like you guys are fucked, and have no idea what you did wrong. The burgler is in the house and you all are trying to wrestle down a potted plant.
It’s also absurd because the US markets itself as the world leader of democracy, but Democratic voters are saying, “Why didn’t you vote with the Party? You shouldn’t have exercised democracy!”

America and the other richest countries have the best means to mitigate the damage. American homes come with heating and AC standard.

For the benefit of other countries dealing with their own rightwing dickhead movements, what we did wrong was slow-roll prosecuting them for blatant crimes.
Biden should have announced prosecutions into far right agitators during his inauguration speech. It shouldn’t have just been the useful rubes from 1/6 that faced consequences. The people and organizations that backed that coup, who fanned the flames and incited violence should have been in cuffs in less than a month, including Trump. From jail, he can’t tweet, he can’t truth social. He can still write to newspapers, and have interviews, and have his lawyer make statements, but all those options have an extra layer of accountability, which would have put a lid on his rampant race-baiting and fear mongering.
I know some of you are going to be worried about appearing partisan. The truth is, bipartisanship is a weapon of the far right. When they are in power, they ride roughshod over everything and everyone, with absolute glee when they can foist terrible policies on the other side. When they call for bipartisan compromise, they are saying “hey! You need to accommodate the views of our bigots and 1% base! Won’t you think of them!?” and we should have told them to fuck off.
People need to vote, and they need to vote effectively. If you’ve got ranked choice, great, vote for the candidates that represent your views the best. If you have a first past the post system, then you need to vote for the least worst candidate that can actually win, even if they don’t align with your morals or ethics. I know it sucks to do it, but you have to consider risk versus reward when making your decision. Taking a big risk on our rights and lives to make a small statement about historical support to a historical ally in a conflict practically as old as history itself, is a really fucking stupid thing to do. There was practically nothing to gain and everything to lose.
Do you think maybe there are multiple reasons why Trump is president and one of them could possibly be because far more people sat out the election than could have swung it against him?
