Evocation (IRL at least) involves calling upon the powers of or summoning a spirit or deity, so it’s like praying (that actually works).
I think someone may have confused the words and swapped them since the definition of evocation is summoning and for conjuration is generic magical stuff.
Isn’t magical manipulation of life force textbook necromancy? Evocation I’ve got no idea though.
