Hey all,

Looking for a sturdy commute panniers that fits the Ride1Up 700 Series rear cargo rack. I had an Ortlieb back roller but the clip broke and the bag rubbed against the tire and broke open. I think this was due to the bottom part of the mount not having a place to hook in to, leading to the bag jostling around too much.

Hoping to find something that’s more compatible and sturdy but also less than $200 per bag if possible.

Are you sure you can’t repair your old one? Ortlieb is actually was I was going to suggest heh.

Also, is being able to easily remove the bag(s) a priority or would you be OK with more generic velcro strap type stuff over clip-ons?

Easily removable is preferable. I actually returned the bag to REI as Ortlieb said it couldn’t be repaired. The Connect+ rack that comes with the bike works for the clamps but not the bottom hook piece sadly.

I use a Topeak MX but you’d need a Topeak rack for it and honestly, it’s not that great (small and only water resistant). Ortlieb is gonna be kind of hard to beat in the waterproof category.

Any chance you could mod another Ortleib to work with the stock rack though? Maybe there are some 3D printed parts you could print at a makerspace or maybe even just use some of those heavy duty rubberized twist ties?

My only other suggestion would be maybe roll top dry bags and strapping them on, but that’s not nearly as slick an option, so using a different rack might end up being the solution.

Sadly I think they use a proprietary mounting system, and the rack holds the fender and brake light :/. I could try strapping down the hook with a bungie cable or something. Hm
