Real democracy is like in the EU, where for the past 30 years, you get to choose the colour of the party that applies neoliberal shock therapy and dismantling of the welfare state.
I’m Spanish. In my home country, a party rose against corruption in the name of the left wing, called “Podemos”. You know what happened? The state apparatus manufactured false evidence of funding from Venezuela and Iran, leaked this false information to journalists, and private media started a yearlong campaign of smearing of the party using false information, if you want to look it up, search for “caso Pablo Iglesias Sociedad Anónima”. They literally bought people from the Venezuelan opposition to create a false narrative that the party was corrupted by Venezuelan money.
So: don’t you fucking dare tell me to my face that European democracies are democracies and Chinese government has no opposition. In Europe we literally had the “Gladio operation” in which lost leftist leaders were LITERALLY MURDERED by intelligence agencies.

I’m making legitimate criticism of my “democracy” when you bring up controlled opposition, to show you that calling my system a democracy as opposed to China is fucking ridiculous. You don’t accept criticism of your system and you call it “whataboutism”, when in reality we’re discussing two different political systems because you’re calling one of them authoritarian which is comparative to the other.
