Leftists are the only one trying to fix the boat. The liberal will say we must compromise with the shooter, and try to vote him out of the boat in four years.

We need to stop using ambiguous terms like “leftist”. It’s way too broad and doesn’t help anyone. I identify as liberal (also too broad), and I likely believe in 90% of the policies you advocate for.

Liberals are reactionaries who wish to return to a previous status quo. Leftists wish to dismantle the existing systems, and establish a socialist system. Two goals in absolute opposition to each other.

In political terms, “liberal” typically refers to a political and moral philosophy based on ideas of liberty, consent of the governed, and equality before the law. However, the meaning of “liberal” varies somewhat depending on context and location.

In the United States, liberalism generally refers to:

              • Support for civil liberties and individual rights
              • Advocacy for social equality and justice
              • Belief in government intervention to address social and economic inequalities
              • Support for progressive taxation and social welfare programs
              • Emphasis on regulatory oversight of business and industry

In the broader international and historical context, liberalism is associated with:

              • Support for democratic systems of government
              • Protection of civil liberties and human rights
              • Free markets with some government regulation
              • Separation of church and state
              • Rule of law and legal equality

“self-identifying liberals as they exist in the world today”

The world is a big place. Not sure if you mean “liberal” in the US context, “Liberal” as in the Canadian political party. “Neo-liberal” as in Economic position of Friedman economics, etc…

Leftist is also a relative term and isn’t very useful. You likely believe in important structural reforms surrounding minimum wage (perhaps UBI), environmental protection, universal affordable/accessible healthcare, strict banking regulation, drastic progressive taxation, harsh penalties for white collar crime, etc… But “left” of what, I doubt youre pushing for authoritarianism or communism?

My point is there are literally Nazis we are fighting right now. Maybe stop with the infighting as a result of ambiguous labels.

They’re also working on the political side to push for ranked-choice voting, challenging voter suppression efforts, etc.

Lived in Upstate New York for about a year, went into a diner that did breakfast. They had a Southern Theme to them and tried to play up being “Southern”.

I asked if they had grits, and I just got funny looks, was told no one could “eat that shit”, and they served “real food”

Then without missing a beat, some guy with a trucker hat and a camoflauge pattern Duck Dynasty shirt gags at the idea of someone ordering grits and then orders a bagel.

It was like I was in the god damn twilight zone.

It was in this moment I suddenly knew what it was like to be a Native American at a Halloween Party and some white guy comes in dressed in warpaint and a headdress saying he’s Chief Sitting Bullshit or something.

That town was weird, so many people LARPing being Southerners, even had one guy told me I was crazy for coming up from NC because “Everyone’s rich back down there, because in the South ya aint gotta pay taxes!” in the most forced Southern Accent I had ever heard in my life, sounding like Hank Hill if he was drunk and had no sense of serenity. For the record, we aren’t rich down south and we sure as hell pay taxes, they just don’t go to anything useful.

Upstate New York isn’t real, I refuse to believe it is, I spent months in some kind of Yankee-Induced coma.

Shit was so bad I moved to Albany, I’ll take real Northerners over fake Southerners anyday. I’m back in NC now, where I can have all the grits I want in a place where there’s always Cheerwine to wash it down with.

I can’t tell if you’re pro-South or not. Since you have a choice of what part of the country you live in, I presume you are a southerner at heart. If not I might add that Northern men are inclined to wear panties and makeup. They aren’t real men and their women wear jockstraps. They epitomize the Q in LGBTQ. The men who live in the southern part of the country are down to earth folks with traditional values and an enviable lifestyle. Yankees are shallow, arrogant, condescending, cowards who are generally moral-less liars and seek money over anything else in their empty lives. Try Nehi or Sundrop cola in lieu of Cheerwine it’s easier on the gastrointestinal system.

You just described the guy that the South overwhelmingly voted for. Twice. What does it say about Southern men that this is what they elected to represent them at the highest level of government?

That’s an enormous lie. That either makes you a liar or a brainwashed fool who hasn’t a clue what he’s spewing, The entire nation voted Republican in November. Not just the southern states. It was a Red Flood. You need to get your facts straight. Every single toss up state voted Republican. TDS occludes your thought processes. That’s the reason why the democrat party has a national approval rating below 25%. They have been propagandized by the corrupt corporate media and they are weak-minded enough to believe in those lies and the lies of their cult leaders.

The entire nation voted Republican in November. Not just the southern states. It was a Red Flood.

It was 49.8% to 48.3%, with over a third of eligible voters sitting it out. It was a Red Dribble, at best.

That’s the reason why the democrat party has a national approval rating below 25%.

The Dems have an abysmal approval rating because they tried to court the right-wing, which cost them most of their left-leaning base. I know you think you had a gotcha moment here, but you aren’t talking to a Democrat.

Comics don’t have to be funny, they can be used to show a message/point of view. A great example I can think of is “Maus”.

And if you don’t like/get the message, that’s fine. To each their own.
