The post in question, if interested:

Also, I don’t know how to see which mod/admin banned me, so if you know how to in the modlog, definitely let me know.

Banned for 7 days, so I’m not super mad or anything - I just thought it was funny.

Honestly I don’t blame them - I’d be embarrassed about people finding out my community was on .ml too.

BPR & YDI. It’s perfectly reasonable to disklike .ml’s moderation practices, but you effectively went into their community just to troll them about it. What did you expect to happen? 7 days seems reasonable to me, and it’s only a community ban.

I mean, if you’re dangling bait, don’t be surprised when the trout start biting.

    Bpr, absolutely.

I mean, I get it, ml really does take that extra attention because if the community is there, or a user is from there, chances are that you’re going to run into zealotry eventually.

But when you make the effort to poke at the scab, it’s not really on them when they poke back.

Truth is, of wouldn’t even need to be .ml, if you did something similar anywhere, a temp ban is legit. Shit stirring can only be tolerated so much, so you have to make it clear that is isn’t going to work out the way the stirrers want, otherwise it snowballs

Wow, that’s the real reason why the deleted comment isn’t quoted in the original post. That’s clear YDI case, the moderator did a good job by kicking out the bad faith troll.

I am too lazy to cut-and-paste links, but we were just having a discussion about you. (Just read the last couple of posts in my profile history for more information.)

Oh wow, I just finished making a post over there lol. I’d been gone all day and didn’t realize there was already a post.

    YDI + BPR. Yup, both.

You didn’t just say what instance the comm is in; you were clearly implying that it’s pointless to engage in good faith there. It falls squarely into rule #2 (be respectful, specially when disagreeing).

At the same time we know how poorly the .ml admin team reacts to things they disagree with. And, even if you were making the comm less welcoming, odds are that you weren’t banned for that, but because you rubbed off the admins the wrong way.

EDIT: it’s relevant to note that I’m often criticising the .ml admin team, as anyone can see here, here, here, here, here. As such, if I’m blaming the OP in this specific case, it’s because I genuinely believe that OP dun goofed. Is this clear?

Yes this is very low-hanging fruit at this point. Effectively you’re attacking their whole instance in their own spaces, so this is BPR. Personally I don’t agree with banning people because they criticize your instance, unless it becomes harassment, but I can see why the .ml mods are fed up with it. There’s like a dozen of threads about bans like this every week on [email protected]

    PTB for sure.

And which of the two admins were responsible for this I wonder. Because the community moderation teams of .ml don’t ever seem to do jack shit.
