The US had trebled tariffs on the UK from 3.4% to 10%, and the UK has cut its tariffs by two-thirds from 5.1% to 1.8%. It does not seem very “reciprocal”.

    Indeed.

By maintaining UK food standards and not, for example, accepting hormone treated beef or chlorinated chicken, a “full fat” food and farm export deal with the EU, similar to Switzerland’s, is now clearly on the cards in the next fortnight.

    Good.

It should never have been a question. I don’t know why we even bothered to pretend that we were ever going to make a deal.

This is great for Northern Ireland. Not only do we have access to both the EU and UK markets with no/minimal customs, but we’re also probably the most practical place in the European Customs union to export out of with the “low” 10% tariff rate

Unless trump is playing. Then it’s not even Snakes and Ladders as Donne finds it all too stimulating, and so has to go have a nap

I dunno man, trying to make grown-up real-world political deals with Trump has got to be like herding cats. My hat’s off to Starmer, he does seem to know how to play him.
