Remember Lina Khan? She was there only a few months ago. Depressing as all fuck how quickly they’ve undone her work.

Edit: I mixed up the FTC and FCC

He must not keep up with the news if he doesn’t realize DOGE has been a failure. Unless he’s actually signaling that he wants Trump to cripple the FCC into uselessness while not saving the taxpayers anything.

Nothing about DOGE has to do with saving taxpayers money. If they wanted to do that they would get rid of oil subsidies or make billionaires pay taxes. It’s 100% about dismantling regulations so the rich can continue to get richer.

It’s been a resounding success for The Heritage Foundation, the billionaire funded think tank.

The country is in chaos, the economy has been torpedoed, and their puppet is openly defying any law he doesn’t like, even from SCOTUS. Who made the Office of US President a King, with absolute immunity from prosecution while performing “Official Acts.” Which SCOTUS will decide the legality of. With a 6 to 3 Neocon bias.

Now the fascists can declare Martial Law, via the Insurrection Act, and rebuild The United States into their Theocratic Fascist Kingdom, with themselves as openly declared Royalty.

The “taxpayers” are peasants to these people, literally. Subhuman drones that exist to generate profit for Nobles. They believe none of us should have ever been allowed an opinion on anything to with government. The billionaires literally want to own and rule their own fiefdoms, and the people who live in it, like the Feudal Barons and Earls of Medieval Europe. The peasants will live in barracks, on factory grounds, and will be compensated with company credit. Like the good old “Company Town” days. A select favored few will be allowed to be merchants, accountants, lawyers, etc. with some degree of autonomy. The Neo Clergy.

I’m not joking, not exaggerating. The ones who back and fund Trump, and his ilk, want exactly that.

Or you could just read the first paragraph of an article you are guna put the effort into expressing your opinion over. The chair of the FCC is saying if DODGE guts the FCC under the guise of reducing the operating cost to save on tax revenues then all they will be doing is reducing the country’s access to affordable high speed internet. Subsequently pushing more people to use starlink.

This took more waaaay more time to write than it took to read. Maybe instead of needing information spoon fed to you, you could save others who share this platform the hassle of being your personal chatgpt by simply skimming an article you could see yourself forming enough of an opinion to comment on.🍻

I have no idea where you’re getting that tone. He wants to gut it. Specific to the rural broadband he wants to funnel money into starlink instead. He’s not saying “if DOGE cuts…” he’s saying let’s do it. He’s not saying “under the guise…” he wants to do it openly. He’s not saying “it’ll reduce access to affordable…” he’s saying that is the solution and the government needs to cut everything else.

My HOA bundles an Internet plan directly into their fees, giving me absolutely zero choice whatsoever. It’s exorbitantly priced too at $100 a month. It’s getting more popular to do this in my state because it blocks you from even using wireless carriers like for Verizon for your service. They take the money even if you don’t set up the service.

Fuck you commissioner and fuck everything you represent.

There is a condo they just finished making in my state. They stated your Internet is priced into the HOA fee - and there was absolutely no wired Ethernet; only wireless. It was $3,000/month for 850 sq ft + $500/month HOA fee.

yeah, this sounds about right. it’s predatory af and also the ISPs are usually pretty shit too. Most of these providers charge absolutely insane rates compared to their costs (because they can), and the people paying the ISPs aren’t the tenants - it’s the HOA or owners, and they don’t care that the users are being overcharged, so it just goes on and on.

They often have preferential access to wiring, rack, and roof space, as well as fiber runs, they actively keep other ISPs out of the building.

source: network engineer for an ISP, and deal with these antics daily.

do it. get a good VPN and do it. I know how these networks are usually architected - they probably will never notice. use as much bandwidth as you can over a VPN and they’ll probably never really see it. also there’s likely no bandwidth cap, since the fiber circuits that feed these units are also usually uncapped in terms of how much data they can pass per billing period, unlike Spectrum/Comcast/VZ/all the other shit ISPs out there.

I know I don’t notice a heavy user when I look at my metrics and even if I did, I don’t get paid to care. just don’t get caught with your VPN off, they probably will see that and disable your service or give you a call and tell you you’re being a bad user a la Skippy.

highly recommend using containerized torrents through a VPN.

I have transmission and openvpn containers. when the network goes down transmission can’t connect since it’s networked through the ovpn container.

once the vpn is restored, everything restarts and resumes where it left off.

ever since I’ve had this setup running, I haven’t had a nastygram sent to me.

This is a massive reason I completely avoid HOAs. I don’t want some busybodies deciding what I can and can’t do with my property, and I’m okay with my neighborhood being less uniform as a result.

That’s also not what I’m referring to. I work in real estate so I’ve seen it all:

            • grass four feet tall
            • a dozen vehicles parked all over the lawn
            • fences fallen down and left on the ground
            • the entire property being used as a landfill/scrapyard
            • rodent infestations

Before anyone jumps on this guy’s bandwagon cuz its fuck musk sentiment, look at his proposal from a net neutrality perspective. The chairman who opposed passing 2017’s title II net neutrality legislation is proposing more crack downs on everyone’s access to alternate ISP options.

THE FCC HAS AMD ALWAYS WILL BE IN THE POCKET OF THE MAJOR INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS WHOSE MAIN GOAL IS TO BOTTLENECK EVERYONE INTO ONLY HAVING ACCESS TO THE INTERNET THROUGH ONE PROVIDER FOR AN AREA SO THEY CAN IMPLEMENT POLICIES LIKE BADWIDTH THROTTLING, CENSORSHIP AND ELIMINATING PIRATING CHANNELS. The only defense we have against losing net neutrality is by lowering their customer retention rates when customers jump to other companies. Which is only effective when there aren’t regulations limiting the number of competing providers.

There are plenty of reasons and justifications for saying fuck musk but this is not one that is worth the potential cost to your net neutrality.
